Is Rose an AIPAC 2? Why all his substitutes have AIPAC noses?

by goldust (not verified) on

Is this another AIPAC TV show? Then, why are they interested in an iranian? do they want to show her (IRAN) naked? To put down IRI as an islamic state? To put down our culture? To play into opposition's hands? Psychological warfare? Or perhaps, they only love Iranian artists?
Let's see what am I missing!!!!
I know, I am missing the real reason that only evil minds can think of it! You got me!

Monda

She is interesting as is her art

by Monda on

It's a false belief that good artists are not or cannot be good at promoting their work. It's a matter of conscious training and descipline for an artist to incorporate both brain hemispheres.

Anyway, all my best to Neshat for presenting herself so well. I also liked the respectful way she referred to Parsipour and Behbahani.

And I loved her style: eye liner, necklace on simple but structured black, shiney hair pulled back, unpainted short nails, etc.

Marjan Zahed Kindersley

Did she make the necklace?

by Marjan Zahed Kindersley on

I rather like that.

I remember seeing a video installation of hers (unless my memory has gone) and I do remember not knowing what to make of them...

anyway, good for her doing well. It's really tough out there. ;)

Jahanshah?

LOL, according to your 'logic', if someone is talked about, that makes him an artist?
as for Picasso, completely different kettle of fish.

Abarmard

I agree

Chomsky is much more informative and interesting to watch, since the media doesn't pay much attention (if ever) to its own true opposition voice.

The interview with Chomsky ...

by ./. (not verified) on

The first part of the video clip is interview with Chomsky. It is a lot more interesting than the rest of the interviews on that clip.

Mehdi

She has hard time facing facts

by Mehdi on

Like many artists, activists, etc, she also has difficulty facing the fact that it is NOT a political issue - it is a cultural issue. The solution is also NOT political but cultural. Waste of talent. Why avoid the truth?

shes a work of art herself

by sheyda (not verified) on

to the person saying her work is copies of other artist ,so what ,everything is recycled in art . it worked for picasso and andy warhol .the point is u take an idea and breath fresh life in to it which she did .lets embrace our artists instead of trying to discredit them .
at least she is doing her thing ,ARE U?

ghalam-doon

Chomsky is there too!

by ghalam-doon on

Watch it from the beginning!

Zion

Good interview

by Zion on

I liked how she spoke about the famous dictum The only way evil prevails is when good men remain silent. There is no neutrality in the face of fascism (Even though Bush has been ripped apart for basically saying the same thing after 9/11, but I am digressing.)
Good for her.

PS. The poem at the end was very touching.

choghok

Business and art

by choghok on

If her work is copy as some mention it is very easy to show the original. Of course there must be some pictures of the hands with henna but that does not make her art copy.

I do not like her art but I would not call her forgery. All artists take impression from the reality and then make their art, otherwise it would not be understood like some modern art.

I Know Her and...

by blogger (not verified) on

honestly, she is more a business person than anything else. Most of her ideas are that of other people in Iran. She just takes them and markets it under her Shirin Neshat name. For example her pictures of velied women with the writings done in hana on the body parts. That is not her original idea and work. Not even the photography.

Saman

You have to be...

by Saman on

All successful artists are business minded … or they’d be one of many starving artists. Shirin’s a wonderful artist and a wonderful lady. Good for her and long live Ardeshir Mohassess who paved the way for all of us.

Jahanshah Javid

Artist

by Jahanshah Javid on

This is not news. It's interesting. She's one of the most talked about Iranian artists anywhere. By your logic Picasso was the greatest businessmen ever. Good for him and her.

Why is this "news"?

by Anonymous77 (not verified) on

The interview took place at least a year ago, when even I saw it.
Apart from that I think that she is a great business woman, but really has not contribution to make otherwise.
