This is great. Here are some clips from, Sangam, starring Raj Kapoor, Vyjayantimala, and Rajendra Kumar, which for several years was a great hit in Iran. Extreme nostalgic effect on people of my generation.

p.s. party girl, i love
by sheila.dadvar on Fri Aug 15, 2008 09:21 AM PDTp.s. party girl, i love cinema paradiso (unfortunately, was never able to memorize the dialogues from taht movie since my italian goes as far as pizza and bertolucci). we have it on dvd, in a case, where it's eating dust. thank you for reminding me how much i miss watching that movie. so excuse me, i have some dusting to tend to.
ciao,
oh, sweet childhood memories
by sheila.dadvar on Fri Aug 15, 2008 09:14 AM PDT1. i don't remember how many times we watched that movie in our family gatherings in the early years after the revolution, right before having VCRs were banned, when we could rent movies from our neighbourhood vedio club. we also saw so many other movies countless times and used to rehearse their dialogues and act them out as a part of our childhood games. although i never thought the bollywood movies had much of artistic values, the wormth and familiarity in them, where you could see stories close to the ancient iranian folk stories on the tube, would always keep us hooked.
2. kissing, if i'm not mistaken is forbidden in public in india. if anyone recalles, there was a whole drama about the infamous kiss which led to some legal complaints against richard gere. so i think it's not only in the indian movies where you're not suppsed to kiss.
peace,
Dear Mazloom
by Party Girl on Fri Aug 15, 2008 12:56 AM PDTYou crack me up! I am not very much into Indian movies, but in the ones I have seen, I think the actual act of kissing in a scene is not allowed. I have seen in their music videos that they get dangerously (!) close to each other, but they don't actually kiss. I don't know why, do they have a Vezarat-e-Ershad, too?!! Heaven knows, the girations and provocative ways in which they move their bodies next to one another are a lot worse (I mean better) than a simple kiss!
This somehow reminds me of the priest in Cinema Paradiso who would censor all the kissing scene from the movies before he would let them be shown. Here, enjoy!
To Mazloom about "kiss"
by Mr. 420 (not verified) on Thu Aug 14, 2008 10:42 PM PDTMazloom, no they did not "kiss", the camera just moved away to two statutes of Indian gods in copulation action and 69 position. Those days kiss was a taboo and instead they rubbed their things against each other. I mean their shoes.
Those were very difficult days.
