Shareordie: A model plunged 150ft to her death from a luxury apartment block after splitting up with her married boyfriend. Sahar Daftary, 24, fell from the 12th floor of a building in Salford Quays, Manchester, over the weekend. The former Face of Asia winner is understood to have been to the flat to collect her belongings after her relationship broke down with her boyfriend - a property developer who has not been named - over the summer. The boyfriend was arrested and interviewed by police before being bailed. Her friend, Afrah Sami, said: ‘We are all shocked and devastated. Sahar was very beautiful - she loved life and she was always the centre of the party. ‘She met him (the boyfriend) in Manchester and they were very happy. Then she won the Face of Asia competition and got several big contracts. She seemed to have the world at her feet. But she discovered that he was married and became very unhappy. The stress changed her and she had stopped eating properly. When she came up on Saturday she was very distracted and preoccupied with collecting her things from the apartment, but he didn’t want to see her.’ Police confirmed that the boyfriend rang 999 saying he needed help. He gave a home address and the address in Salford but there was confusion as to where the man was >>>

by Pari (not verified) on Tue Dec 23, 2008 07:58 AM PSTNone of you have the right to defame sahar jan.....those who talk of religious reasons for committing suicide, or saying that no sympathy should be given towards her death or to her family, are wrong, you have no right to say such stuff about someone who has past away...and for assumpetions of her committing suicide should be left to police investigation...im speaking of this as i know the family very well,,,and my parents are close to her family....it should be noted that islam has nothing to do with it!!!....we are talking about someone who has died!...and such religious reasons should not interfere..those who claim she was involved in pornography...do not have the right to bring shame to her name....it dosent matter whether she is bad or not...all we need to do now is support her family through such harsh time...also the other factor is that its not her BOYFRIEND!...its her fiannce that she was going to get married with..so those who are trying to say its her boyfriend are wrong....also the last factor is that she is afghan....and not iranian...so please people do not start a fight against which ethnic background she is...all we do now is to wish her to rest in peace...and allah bless her soul..whoever is responsible for her death shall be punished...so i hope that the police are going to do their job properly..Allah does not allow such liars in his paradise...so those who lie will see their bad time...all i know is that she loved her life...she had succeeded in modelling...in studying...and in love...why would she commit suicide?.... I understand that everyone has a point of opinion..but if u dont know her ...do not speak of such wrong words...

Speaking to people who were with her that day she was laughing and joking and was in good spirits apart from the stress of wanting her belongings from that flat. She had holiday plans for this week aswell as her birthday. This WAS NOT SUICIDE.
She was half iranian.

Sahar is an Afghan, she was my best friend and very close to God, she wouldhave never ever even thought of killing herself.
She got married to Rashid and later found out that he is married with 2 kids and thats when she asked for her divorce but he wouldnt give it to her. He made her life a living hell.
she was meant to come see me in Dubai this Thursday to celebrate her 24th birthday and new yrs. She had gone to Rashid's aprtmet in Manchester to get her clothes from him and only ALLAH knows what happened there and how she fell but i know Sahar and i know for a fact she would have never killed herself.
She was getting over him and she was always a happy person.

but I have to say if she was Iranian she wouldn't commit suicide for breaking up or the porn , Iranian women r stronger, if they do porn they stick to it and if they break up they move on....
as Iranian we are more open minded specially the one raised outside of Iran after the revolutions. when have you ever heard and Iranian girl got killed by her father or brother in uk because she was not Virgin or she was going out with a guy.......

At the end of the day, which ever way you want to look at it, its extremly sad that a beautiful young woman felt she had no choice but to kill herself.
I fel sorry for her family and for the guy involved. They have to live with that forever.

Lack of self worth, compulsion or obssessions, or other mental illness might be a factor. There are always plenty of other fish in the ocean. And even if not successful at fidning a mate, so what? just grow your inner self stronger, no matter what.

by irani 123 (not verified) on Mon Dec 22, 2008 03:08 PM PSTIt seems that some people think of these kinds of love games as a win or lose game.It looks like she could not take rejection and sadly she took her life.I remember a story where a woman dentist found out about his dentist husband who was messing around with his secretary that she hired a private eye and she was so mad at her husband cheating on her that when she confronted him in a hotel parking lot she ran over him several times with her Mercedes Benz and sat the car on top of him.She is serving life now.Was it worthed,no I do not think so.Split peacefully and you will get over it.
