Excellency Ban Ki-moon
Secretary-General
United Nations
New York, New York
Your Excellency,
For several millenniums many nations have celebrated the first day of spring as their new year. Today, nearly 300 million people around the world celebrate the first day of spring as their new year, better known as Norouz (New Day). Nearly all of these celebrants live in UN member nations. Unfortunately, none of the UN calendars or affiliated agencies commemorate this important date as has been done for different celebrations of member nations. We, the undersigned, request from your Excellency, bearer of the highest office of the United Nations, to kindly authorize the relevant agencies to correct this oversight for the upcoming calendars throughout the UN agencies. Please accept our best wishes and thanks for your attention to this important request.

there is a sucker everyday
by yq (not verified) on Mon Oct 27, 2008 08:23 PM PDTMany web users are totally ignorant or just plain gullible in thinking that whatever has been posted on the Internet is the gospel truth. Scammers and email harvesters gloat at such incompetence and laugh to the bank when many fall for their unsavoury schemes such as this Naw Ruz petition. Click on the source of the petition and guess what happens? Feeling great when you said you've signed? Well if getting suckered feels great, go right ahead!

Mr. Abdol Kachal or whatever your name. After this last attack of arabs to our nation and the scattering of more than 2 millions of us around the world. The first step that we iranians have to take in order to recover and reconstruct our values is to believe in ourselves. I don't know what would the real impact of this petition be, but I know that if just one person in UN see that thousands or more of iranians believe in what they are and are desirous to preserve it, it can create a butterfly effect. This effect encapsulates the more technical notion of sensitive dependence on initial conditions
in chaos theory. The idea is that small variations in the initial conditions of a dynamical system produce large variations in the long term behavior of the system. A simplistic explanation of this scientific hypthesis would be that small causes can have tremendous effects.
ps. I'm a scientific and somewhat bitarbiat: if you didn't catch what I'm saying, can translate it into your language.
I suggest that first, we
by M.S. (not verified) on Thu Aug 07, 2008 03:18 PM PDTI suggest that first, we Iranian have a consensus on the spelling of Nowruz and then ask the UN to consider it for its calendar. For the correct spelling, I refer you to the spelling that UNESCO has accepted.

So Mr. Kachal let me guess you make prank calls and enjoy talking on your cell phone in movie theatres while people are watching the movie. Right?
Congratulations you are the JERK of the month.
Why exactly do you consider
by American Wife (not verified) on Thu Aug 07, 2008 11:34 AM PDTWhy exactly do you consider this a joke? Do you not believe that collective efforts can achieve just about any goal? If, as Majid has shown, 5000 Iranians in NC can get the Governor to proclaim National Iranian Heritage day, why couldn't hundreds of thousands have some influence with the United Nations? And how is it pompous... in any way? Also, just curious as to where you practice medicine... I assume m.d. does stand for medical doctor? Did you obtain your degree in the US?

5000 Iranians in North Carolina did it!
by Majid on Wed Aug 06, 2008 06:01 PM PDT//www.tisfoon.com/iran/governor.gif
If 5000 could do it in "NORTH CAROLINA "!! it could be done worldwide.
I even suggested this to several "HAMVATAN" media outlets here in Southern California with an official population of half a million Iranians.
WE CAN DO IT, IT'S BEEN DONE!
