Hossein Sabet Baktash

Businessman

Hossein Sabet Baktash (seen here with Turkmans in Gobad) is an Iranian businessman and Persian carpet dealer who owns Sabet International Trading Co.. A recent article from International Herald Tribune, where he talks about building the first Middle East Disneyland, and where, I KID YOU NOT, he explains about his Kish Island hotel providing dolphins shows where the dolphins are dancing to Persian music. Sabet has a BSc in engineering and resides in Berlin, Germany. Sabet International Trading Co. has numerous subsidies such as the Sabet Hotels Group, notable for owning many hotels on Kish Island including the Dariush Grand Hotel and 11 hotels in Europe including many on the Canary Islands. Sabet also holds exclusive rights to organize horse race competitions throughout Iran via his company ASB Iranian. Sabet is also set to build the first solar powered hotel in the Middle East on Kish Island, Iran. Koroush Hotel will be 7 star and will cost $520 million dollars and will have 500 rooms, 23 floors in an area of 100,000 square meters. The hotel is set to be complete in October 2009.

His relationship with IRI

by Faramarz_Fateh on

You MUST think someone with that much $$$ and the rights to build hotels in Keesh, run horse racing events throughout Iran, export $90M worth of persian rugs a year is connected to the IRI; one way or another, either by sucking dick, kissing ass or some other illegal immoral activity.

Are you kidding me? Patriot? Just because he wants to build a Disney Land look alike place? Wow! Get a life people.

Building Disneyland is Truly "Patriotic"!!!

by Payam S (not verified) on

Mr. Sabet Bakhsh is merely a capitalist with lots of money to invest. By simply investing in Iran, and profiting handsomely from it, does not signify any more vatandoosti than a simple construction worker building a brick wall. As a matter of fact, I would argue that he does not carry out a single task that would progress the process of construction and production. He merely transfers and shifts money around and makes more money from it. Let us not forget he is a businessman, and as the International Herald Tribune quoted an economist stating: "I believe he started making money much faster than he could anywhere else in the world." If he was to lose money investing in Iran, he would simply not invest. And who is to say he has not invested in "Arab" nations.

Also, building amusement parks and hotels, does not show anything about the economic and social progress of a country. Its as rediculous as saying that just because of Grand Hotels and resorts in Cancune, the Mexican economy is thriving, when it is actually the exact opposite. More than 50% of Mexico is under the poverty line. You might find similarities in that with Iran.

And finally, it is unfortunate to see Iranians always looking up to the wealthy, the powerful, the "strong", the "wise one", the boss, the capitalist, the mullah, the president, the rahbar and others for change and admiration as well as identity. Look to the people, the poor, the homeless, the illiterate, the junkies, the prostitutes, the suppressed women, oppressed workers, and depressed youth. THAT is who we really are. And no amount of money or investment can cure our social and cultural problems as long as we are driven by profit and emulation.

Peace and Solidarity,
Payam

That is how we can get back at the world

by Amir Nasiri (not verified) on

Tha Japaneses didn't take revenge after world war II. They practically invaded USA. Now every corner of US economy it is either owned by Japanese manufacturer or is a subsidiary.

We Iranians can do it beter than the Japaneses, we hae the manpower and ten times the intelligence it is just we need to believe in ourselves and build Iran

This is how you beat the Iranian government too.

Persian Gentleman

I find that Mr Sabet has a lot of class. If he constructs Hotel Darius, it's because of his patriotism as ThePope has also noticed it: It's so easy for him to go and make more money on the other side of the Gulf.

Thank you for giving us the hope that it's worth to make a better place here on earth.

Beloved Iran

An Great Iranian Gentleman.
Who does not love his country? There are much more
Iranian who would do the same if they had a better situation in Iran. We can only hope the situation changes soon. Freedom for Iran.

ThePope

What an amazing Iranian.

by ThePope on

What an amazing Iranian. He's a true patriot. This gentelman made it all the way to the top, gained total success as a businessman abroad, but he did not loose his identity. He is proud to be Iranian, and his deeds demonstrate his love for his country and culture. With the current situation in Iran, it is rare for a millionaire to invest his hard earned money into I.R. of Iran. The way this man has invested in Iran, only demonstrates his love for his nation and people. Some Iranian when they smell success, sargijeh olaghi migirand-o beh kuneshoon migan: donbaaleh man nayaa boo midi. As an example, other rich Iranian buisnessman rather invest in arab states around the "gulf", but not in our beloved land cuz they consider it taboo. But as we can see this man is soooooo khaaki (down to earth be gholeh khaarejaki-haa).He can be an example for other successful Iranians who made it big...

If only, all successful Iranian would follow his path, slowly but surely Iran will progress culturally, shape up finacially, regain its lost int'l reputation and the regime will have no other choice than farz konand aadamand, yaa beh omid-e hagh gooz-o bedan-o ghabz-o begirand!!!
