FIFA.com -- The spectators in Brasilia knew they were in for a quarter-final in all but name and they did not go home disappointed. Despite building an early two-goal advantage thanks to Grana's double, the Azzurri eventually found themselves battling to stay in the competition. Team Melli took time to settle but were soon competing with impressive determination, twice bringing themselves level before taking a 4-3 lead. They also led 5-4 moments before the end, but with just 50 seconds on the clock Edgar Bertoni struck the decisive blow, knocking the Iranians out in the cruellest of twists. Goals: Masoud Daneshvar 11, 36 Ebrahim Masoudi 13, Mohammad Hashemzadeh 27, Ali Hassanzadeh 29 (Iran) ; Grana 2, 9, Patrick Nora 14, Fabiano 31, Edgar Bertoni 40 (Italy)

by IRANdokht on Tue Oct 14, 2008 09:20 PM PDTAs you can probably tell I am not into watching sports much and I had never even heard of Futsal.
I think the last football game I watched was between Iran and US wayyyyy back.
Thanks for the explanation.

by Nader on Tue Oct 14, 2008 08:05 PM PDTThis is called Futsal. It's indoor soccer. Iran is the NINE time Asian champions.
This game is as exciting as the one played on grass.
Iranians are the master of Gole Koochik!
what a game
by shirazie (not verified) on Tue Oct 14, 2008 07:50 PM PDTItalian team had 4 Brazilian born players. The claim is Brazil can field three national teams in any format of football.
But what a run..
Hope team Melli beats North Korea Tomorrow. Looking forward to go back to South Africa to see team Melli play
Very sad
by Amir Nasiri (not verified) on Tue Oct 14, 2008 07:19 PM PDTI watched the game and the match cast and if you look at the stats, Iran was leading in ball possession 68% to 32%. That is enormous gap in football standards.
The Italians were struggling and our heroes were making them run after the ball like crazy.
It was an unfair game.
I think it should have had been a penalty.
The Italians did not deserve to win at all.o
But I am very proud of the players, if you hadn't have the chance to watch some of the games go on youtube.com and search for futsal 2008 Iran and watch some of the clips.
They played world class game amongst the best in the world.
FIFA?
by IRANdokht on Tue Oct 14, 2008 04:42 PM PDThave the football fields become smaller this year?
what's going on?

True Champions!!
by Nader on Tue Oct 14, 2008 04:03 PM PDTWhat a great display of sportsmanship by our boys on the world's stage!!
Please visit FIFA site and see what people are saying about our team.
We did not have our captain and one of our best scorers for this game, yet, we showed so much heart that Italy was cornered for most of the game.
Gongratulations to Iranians.
Iran SHIREEEEE!
