Fereydoon Farokhzad, a true human being and a hero

Late Fereydoon Farokhzaad was a true symbol of patriotism. He knew exactly what was wrong with our society and culture, and attacked it whenever and wherever he had the opportunity to do that! He laughed at those who used false dignity to hide their own flaws and weaknesses! And he laughed at death to teach others that some values stand much above everything else and deserve to be defended with "life"! His sharp vision could see the tiniest problems which were hidden deep into the psyche of society while wrapped in beautiful and colorful pretence! An eagle in mind and a love bird at heart! Fereydoon was a true Iran lover who meant what he said and did what he meant! If we have any heroes among Iranians, he is definitely one of them! ravaanash shaad va raahash paaydaar!

Great man like many others

Like many other great men and women that Iran has produced throughout its history, he and many others gave their lives for ungrateful bunch. Lets be honest, how many of us who have heard his call to protest on Bahamn 22nd, actually have protested against this demonic/islamic regime?!

Fereydoun Farrokhzad died in 1992

It's been 16 years since 1992. Fereydoun Farrokhzad is dead. Can't anybody find an opposition leader that is not dead and not crazy. None of the present day opposition leaders living outside of Iran are cognizant of what is going on in Iran.
If you talk to an MKO guy they call the IRI, "Khomaynizm". Khomayni has been dead since 1989.
If you talk to a shah'Allahi, they live in an Iran prior to the 1979 revolution.
Both the MKO and the Shah'Allahis have outdated Iranian flags.
It would be better if they removed the symbol from the middle and made their flag a plain green, white and red flag.
By the way, the real change occurs withing Iran's borders. The external opposition have been useless for more than 29 years. On Febrauay 11, 2009 it will be 30 years since the Iranian Revolution. The IRI has lasted longer in power continuously than both Shahs from the Pahlavi dynasty.
1925-1941 Reza Khan (16 years)
1941-1953 MR Pahlavi (12 years)
1953 Shah flees to Italy
1953-1979 Shah re-installed, propped up by the west, who eventually abandoned the Shah in '79. (24 years)

...You hit it right on the nail. Yes formal education despite its strength and power in allocation of scarce resources (Power, welath, prestige) to various segment of society it is not always a determining factor. Just say take Mr. Ronald Wilson Reagan who with only a BA at hand became a very powerful American president for two terms after he kissed Hollywood actormanship goodbye. There are abundance of such examples in the world of rich and famous throughout various societies in world.

Having said that now let me go count number of my dimes in my piggy bank.

Many of us Iranian think that one person with a microphone in front of him can change a regime,but they do not know a governments have billions of dollars in their disposal and millions of people as their support.He should have stuck with singing and showmanship so we could still been enjoying seeing his shows.

He is much more alive than those who have become Mullahs toys and support the regime for money.

That includes everyone who has vested interest in the regime's survival and ranges from those who have money in IR banks, own real estate to the artists who do not do their duty and oppose the regime of murderers, liars and thieves.

He is right, but ....

What he did not understand was that Iranians are apparently happy with the system they have gotten (more accurately, majority are happy). So why should they rise up? They rose up in 1979 and they got what they wanted and are happy with the system they got. That is where he (Farrokhzad) went wrong! Minority will not rise up. Majority should.

President Ahmadinejad Will Face "Wall of Shame" at the UN Headquarters via Stop Child Executions

NEW YORK, NY, Sep 11, 2008  -- The President of Iran will have to get past the "Ahmadinejad Wall of Shame" -- a visual display and demonstration across the United Nations Headquarters -- before entering the opening of the General Assembly.

The rally will run from 12-2pm on September 23rd at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza (47th St. & 2nd Ave.) and feature Iranian/American groups each directly challenging Ahmadinejad on the surge in human rights abuses in Iran.

Organizing the event, Nazanin Afshin-Jam, an international human rights activist and former Miss World Canada, will lead off the line up of the "Wall of Shame" by asking: "Ahmadinejad why are you executing children?" Nazanin's actions on behalf of the children on death row in Iran began when she was told of a young girl on her namesake that was going to be executed for stabbing one of three men who attempted to rape her. Nazanin was instrumental in saving this girl and since then has been dedicated to saving more lives.

"There has been 6 children hanged this year alone in Iran and over 130 children on death row awaiting execution," said Nazanin Afshin-Jam, President and co-founder of the Stop Child Executions (SCE) organization. "While the UN legitimizes Ahmadinejad as the leader of Iran by having the door open to him at the General Assembly, the Iranian people feel betrayed by the false representation. In face of the west's obsession with Iran's nuclear development, the voices of the Iranian people have been stifled and human rights abuses have been overshadowed.

This 'Wall of Shame' demonstration is hoping to give a 'voice to the voiceless' and address the concerns of the vast majority of Iranian people who believe in a united, secular, democratic Iran based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and no military intervention on Iran," said Nazanin. Groups and individuals participating in the "Wall of Shame" demonstration include those who have faced oppression under the current regime such as women under gender apartheid, students who have been imprisoned and tortured and ethnic and religious minorities who have been persecuted. Focus will also be given to other human rights atrocities in Iran including stoning to death, dismembering of limbs, and throwing people from heights as methods of punishment.

Nazanin states, "The government of Iran cannot on the one hand expect the international community to trust its leaders with nuclear energy while it openly disregards the most basic internationally recognized child rights conventions such as the UN's International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the Charter of the Rights of the Child (CRC) to which it is state party."

Stop Child Executions invites all media and the general public to join this demonstration for Human Rights. SCE will release the latest list of minors facing the death penalty, and an 8 part plan of recommendations addressed to Iran's heads of state, Parliament, Judiciary, United Nations and international community which will also be made available on the htttp://www.stopchildexecutions.com  website following the rally.
