This is my new composition performed December 9th at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) based on "Ey Iran" theme. Hope you will enjoy it. Conservatory program note: "Pro Patria is composed based on a theme from the popular Iranian anthem “Ey Iran!” (Oh Iran!) which has engraved on composer’s mind since his childhood. The anthem is always considered as a way to express Iranians nationalistic feelings toward their homeland and how they want their country to be. The composer tries to express the same feeling in his own language which is a mixture of nationalism, sarcasm and homesickness. The piece has an epic mood inside which can be found within any conversation with an Iranian (Persian) individual." sahbakia.com

Shut UP, Listen, And enjoy
by Anonymous666 (not verified) on Mon Dec 22, 2008 02:57 PM PSTYou are all great stereotypes of the Persian culture that is why we don't have anything nice or sophisticated just listen and enjoy. This man is a very talented composer. why do Persians always have to analyze everything and express themselves and some how complain about it. Here is an advice shut up, listen, and enjoy!!!
Its a very beautiful piece
by raaz (not verified) on Sat Dec 13, 2008 02:41 PM PSTIts a very beautiful piece and you can feel the homesickness and sarcasm and love in every single note. I've also seen your previous works Mr.Aminikia and I think you're really talented, keep up the good work and good luck with your future compositions.
Delighted
by Marjan Zahed Kindersley on Sat Dec 13, 2008 12:56 AM PSTThank you. It's a wonderful piece.
I'm just not so sure about the description: I hear innocent playful, forgiving, sad understanding, not sarcasm and luckily not too much nationalism either in the flute.
(Why do I keep hearing Shostakovich?)
Anyway, I really really like it. It's a mental massage for me about lots of Iranian issues. Thank you for the privilege.
Wishing you lots of lovely moments
Marjan
Beautiful!
by Nazy Kaviani on Fri Dec 12, 2008 09:26 PM PSTWhat a beautiful homage to a forever fresh Iranian melody! Rouhollah Khaleghi's original creation seems to have found a new meaning and purpose in the capable hands and mind of this talented young Iranian musician. An excellent Job, Mr. Aminikia, et. al! Ey Iran rules our hearts forever.
