Will be the Greatest Hit...

by Abol Hassan Danesh, (not verified) on

...

I believe Mr. A. Kiarostami is the only qualified Iranian movie maker who could make a great movie on "The Al Mahdi" as long as he stays in close touch and cooperates tightly with the hollywood great masters to make this joint venture an ultimate success in the history of movie making surpassing and going beyond both Bin Hur, Elsid, ten commandment, and off course the Passion ...

If he has the Balls and the hard cock then he will stand up and keep rolling until the movie hits the box offices like hydrogen bomb...

I didn't mean to ENTEGHAD but constructive criticism

by Ali G. (not verified) on

Dear LA, you do have every right to express your view, so does everyone else.

You said, "we have a very limited understanding of Cinema and films".
Is that why, Iranian cinema and films are one of the most recognized and sought-after in the World Cinema?

BTW, which of Kiarostami's work contradicts with what he said in this interview?

Cheers

LA Think about this

by Abarmard on

Can he make a movie that falls in to the category that you like? I am certain that he can. What is his advantage? What does he have that most directors don't, why is he recognized?

Just to give you an example about his genius, watch the taste of cherry, and see the acting of the young soldier when he gets in to his car. Try to imagine the camera work and realize that these guys are acting. It's not that simple. Actually, you would think that this guy is for real...lighting and camera shots are AMAZING. Most of his shots were done with ONE camera! I want you to go and find a director that can do that, at that time. Now they have learned from him.

Know who and what he is, what he has done then you are entitled to your opinion. It's his style and opinion to say and do what he likes, it's his camera/lighting/directing philosophy that has made him who he is and you can't discredit that.

I am amazed when I watch his movies, because it's not the topic, ever that is the most important. You must get that to get him. It's genious. His style for the pop artists made a good guide line, such as Majid Majidi, Jafar Panahi and so on. He is not the artist that mass would understand, he creates the art and pop artists copy it. Then most people understand the copy artists, or pop artists, not him. That's not his role.

The New Awakening

I
Was
Never
Burned
And have never died
For I am the sea breeze in hot summer
For I am first perfume flowers exploding in early spring
For I am the sun light
Warming man sitting behind the glass window in winter
For I am the dew sitting on vast grassland until late morning
Yes my longevity is at par
With the universe''s inhaling and exhaling
Yes, We the two are inseparable and the same
Our coming and going can''t be nailed down for exact timing
Niter by fool nor by the genius
Yes, Dates of birth and death
Is the most ridiculous social contracts made by fool
To trick and distract man away from his cosmic nature

I didn't mean to ENTEGHAD but constructive criticism. How long do we have to continue to settle for less when we can explore our potential to be a better artist, filmmaker, etc. I think as an audience and a film lover i do have a right to express my view. Let's respect each other work, but have a courage to criticis and not get offended.

to Genius!!!

Genius!!!!

by LA (not verified) on

I think as an Iranian, i have to admit that we have a very limited understanding of Cinema and films. Mr. Kiyarostami in his interview contradicted himself by saying" i don't like movies that advise and excite people" etc,,.but It's very obvious that in all of his movies he's doing the exact opposite of what he's saying out loud. . .Also i don't think we're on that stage of cinematic art yet to have even a prophet, yet a GOD?...I DON'T THINK SO!!! With all due respect to all artists, writers and filmmakers..
LET'S GET OUT OF THE BOX AND BE MORE CREATIVE>>>>

Vitamins

by Abol H. Danesh (not verified) on

...my wife always ask me not to wear dark sun glasses for too long for there are all sorts of vitamins in the sun light that eyes need for its nourishment and augmentation...

I am not an eye doctor but I treat my wife as the goddess to whom I listen to even if she comes and says...drink this bitter poison it will not kill you but only makes you stronger

Down to earth

by sarekar (not verified) on
