Top Iranian American scholar Athlete

Orange, Massachusetts (September 17, 2007) --. Reza Namin, Superintendent of Mahar has been recognized as one of the top Iranian American Scholar and Athlete, Sport Celebrity by the Iranian Journal Parstimes. He received best wishes from the Honorable Empress Farah Pahlavi of Iran. "I have been honored to have strong women as my role models such as my Mom, My wife, and the Honorable Empress Farah Pahlavi for their Beauty, Elegance, Grace, Courage, and Strength". Dr. Namin said.

Dr. Namin is among other notable Iranian American Scholars such as Vartan Gregorian, former president of Brown University and current president of Carnegie Corporation of New York; Dr. Elaheh Kheirandish, Harvard University, Department of the Classics; Dr. Hamid Dabashi, Columbia University, an internationally renowned cultural critic and award-winning author; and Dr. Hossein Modarressi, Professor of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University. Some notable Sports Celebrities are T.J. Houshmandzadeh, NFL and Andre Agassi.

Dr. Namin has recently completed his Post-Doctoral Studies in Leadership for Understanding at Harvard Graduate School of Education where over thirty District Administrative Leaders through out the United States, Australia, India, and Turkey took part in an online distance learning lead by the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.

Dr. Namin has the Massachusetts Certification as a Principal/Assistant Principal; Supervisor, Director (K-12); Teacher of Chemistry (5- 9th Grades) and Teacher of Chemistry (9-12th Grades); and Superintendent/ Assistant Superintendent (K-12) as well as the New Hampshire Certification as Superintendent, District Administrator and Principal. He has a PhD in Math and Science Education with focus on Curriculum and Technology; Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Leadership and Educational Administration as well as a MEd and BS in Chemistry and Mathematics. He is continuing his Post-Doctoral Studies at Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Dr. Namin has been nominated for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics, Science and Technology, and The Massachusetts Teacher of the Year. A former Professional Soccer Player who played for Boston and was drafted by MSL. He is the recipient of the 1998 Worcester State College Alumni Award for Outstanding Achievements in Education and was inducted to Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995.He has also been named the New England Coach of the Year in NCAA Division I, while coaching at Holy Cross College in 1991.

Dr. Namin has been elected by the Massachusetts Board of Education to serve in the Massachusetts Science, Technology & Engineering and Mathematics Advisory Board and has been recognized by the Northborough Board of Selectmen, on behalf of the citizens of Northborough for six years of dedicated service as the chairman of the Northborough Youth Commission.
