7 killed in steel plant blast in central Iran TEHRAN – Seven people were killed by an explosion that occurred on Sunday night at the privately owned Ghadir steel plant, which is located in the city of Ardakan, in the central province of Yazd, Khabaronline reported.  Twelve people were also injured in the explosion. The incident took place at 19:15 local time.  Some of the people killed in the incident had foreign nationality.   According to the report, rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.  The presence of water inside compressed scrap metal in a furnace caused the explosion, according to a firefighter present at the scene.
