Free speech is not the freedom to disrupt and shout down, but to speak
as well as to listen. The jihadis/IRI/PressTV use free speech excuse as an sxcuse to kill freedom of speech for everyone but the jihadis/IRI terrorists. PressTV is owned by a terrorist entity (IRI) as a propaganda tool.  It should have been banned long ago, for the same reason that no one allows an Osama TV in civilized world.

I have no love for PressTV. It is BS and I am the first to admit it. But there are two issues here:

  • The best way to discredit a BS organization is not to ban it. Did banning Khomeinis writings help or hurt? It helped him because people did not know how full of it he was. Maybe they would not have followed him.
  • Fairness requires the same rules be applied to all. Fox regularly does similar things. When a nations allows Murdoch to own all that media it has no leg to stand on. Might as well let PressTV. How could it be worse that 100% lies?

The more prudent act was to ask them not to broadcast that one item.

PressTV was banned because they have been repeatedly violating the UK communications regulatory bodies rules. In this particular case, by promissing to broadcast an Iranian/Canadians's interview, only if he would during the interview declare that he was "being persecuted by the west". i.e. they were using this poor man as a mere tool of propaganda for the islamist regime, and seriously endangering his legal case. This kind of behaviour is normal in Iramian state run TV and radio but illegal in the west.  

"Personal business must yield to collective interest."

Now we have more censorship. The right path is to have *all* views allowed not to out do each other in censorship. What is next? Should UK start matching Hezbollah in executions? Who is better at doing it. Race to the lowest point?

By the way if you really want to block *** do it with Murdoch. His "news" is by far worse than Pravda and Pers at their worst.
