Two Americans convicted in Iran of spying and jailed mainly in isolation for more than two years arrived in New York on Sunday, saying they were innocent and had been held hostage simply because of their nationality.

Words under question marks...

"Two Americans convicted in Iran of spying and jailed mainly in isolation for more than two years arrived in New York on Sunday, saying they were innocent and had been held hostage simply because of their nationality."

Words under question marks:

"isolation" in a "jail"!,

"innocent": maybe, if they were experienced hikers.  Where are the other places that they hiked?

"hostages": or prisoners.

 "nationality": of course, it had something to do with nationalities.  It's clear from such a lovely relationship between two governments.

What makes these different from those at Gitmo?

by My Name Is Borat on

Are you serious? Are you really, honestly comparing the two?

You are actually going to go online and leave a post comparing three idiots who felt compelled to go "hiking" along the Iran-Iraq border with trash that has actively participated in acts of war and terrorism against civilians?

@Yolanda: "an iota of evidence"

by MeyBokhor_Manbarbesuzan on

"I have not heard an iota of evidence that these 2 guys committed espionage!"

What makes these different from those at Gitmo?

Wait here it is. They come from a rich country that can buy their freedom.

The old Graham Nash song comes to mind:

And here's a song to sing,
For every man inside,
If he can hear you sing
It's an open door.
There's not a rich man there
Who couldn't pay his way
And buy the freedom
that's a high price
For the poor.

they turn their horrendous ordeal into something positive. Now that they tasted this regime's brutality perhaps write a book and do things that may help dissidents in Iran, like Roxana Saberi did.

Where is the "irrefutable" evidence from IRI that these 2 guys are spies?

I have not heard an iota of evidence that these 2 guys committed espionage!

It is sad to hear these 2 guys said they heard screaming Iranians in Evin, but they could not help them!

I hope to hear more from these 2 guys about what was like in Evin!

Bauer said......"It is the Iranian people who bear the brunt of this government's cruelty and disregard for human rights," he said.

"If the Iranian government wants to change its image in the world, and ease international pressure, it should release all political prisoners and prisoners of conscience immediately. They deserve their freedom just as much as we do," Bauer said.
