Spain recognizes Libyan rebels as legitimate representative

Spain has recognized the Libyan rebels' National Transitional Council as the country's legitimate representative. It has also promised financial and humanitarian aid to the rebels. The announcement was made by the Spainish Foreign Minister during her visit to Benghazi.

Foreign delegations are streaming to Benghazi, this time the Spanish foreign minister Trinidad Jimenez has come to show her governments support to the Libyan rebels.

Spanish Foreign Minister Trunidad Jamenez said, "We want to show the Spanish people's and our government's support to the national transitional council, who are the legitimate representatives of the Libyan people."
