France wants EU to recognize Palestinian state

  •  Recognition of a Palestinian state by EU may be coming
  •  Abbas in France for talks with Sarkozy
  •  US still not sure of UN declaration

France has suggested that other European nations have been considering recognition of a Palestinian state.

The Palestinians, who have been threatening to seek a unilateral declaration of statehood at the UN General Assembly in September, have received the support of French president, Nicolas Sarkozy.

Ironically French Diplomacy is earning respect for it's coherence and constructive approach to International Relations. Is France Replacing the US as the"Beacon of Freedom and Democracy" in the eyes of oppressed nations ? ...

If So, France for better or for worse, will be playing a major role in shaping the future of the Middle East and North Africa as an essential partner and unavoidable negotiator between different political protagonists in the region. 

France's opposition to the American Invasion of Iraq in 2003 is also something that will play in it's favor be it in the eyes of the Arab World.
