A French plane has fired the first shots in Libya as enforcement of the UN-mandated no-fly zone begins. The target was a military vehicle, the French defence ministry said. It came hours after Western and Arab leaders met in Paris to agree a course of action to confront Col Gaddafi. "Our air force will oppose any aggression," said French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Earlier, pro-Gaddafi forces attacked the rebel stronghold of Benghazi. However, the Libyan government has denied launching any assault

The question is bugging me, I can not ignore it.
Gaddafi MUST be Toppled !
by Darius Kadivar on Sat Mar 19, 2011 11:44 AM PDTGaddafi MUST Be Toppled !
There can be no middle ground anymore. No one knows better than the French (who were occupied for 5 years by a treacherous regime of collaborators and torturers) that Freedom has a Price !
The Question is will they go ahead as promised without being hindered by UN endorsements ? I hope they do.
Had they done this after the first bombings of Civilians by Gaddafi's henchmen while the tyrant was in hiding in his bunker all this tragedy could have been avoided. Now that they are decided to confront him there can be no going back. War is not a child's game. And Leadership is not for schoolboys and schoolgirls. Sarkozy is proving to have the qualities to make hard decisions when they matter.
He is not flawless but at least he has the sense of responsability and courage in the face of adversity which is the minimum requirement it one claims to lead a nation and particularly as member of the Security Council.
As for Obama unless he wakes up, he better consider giving up the White House to run some Kindergarten instead.
