Between 44.5 and 55 percent of Iran's urban population lives under the poverty line, according to a new report titled "Measurement and Economic Analysis of Urban Poverty."

The paper was presented by three senior government researchers at a conference organized two weeks ago by the national statistics center (Markazeh Amareh Iran), under the aegis of several ministries, Tehran University, and the United Nations Population Fund. It was included in a compilation published by the conference, 50 Years of Household Economics, and made available to the general public on Wednesday, reported the Islamic Students News Agency (ISNA).

MUST SEE POVERTY IN TERROR REGIME

by Simorgh5555 on

With the IR terror regime claiming to make advancements in industry and the economy none of the ordinary Iranian citizens are seeing a single cent from the so-called prosperity. Ordinary life for many Iranians is a living hell and all the money is lining the pockets of Islamists or being chanelled to terrorist organsiations abroad. These pictures are the real Iran!

Death to the Islamic Republic. Destroy by any means necessary.

extreme, ironic distribution of wealth, in oil rich iran...

coupled with almost non existant social security provisions, has been the name of the game in Iran, both under the Pahlavis and now under the fascist islamist regime. Rich are getting richer and poor are getting poorer. The good news is, that greedy super rich islamist facists are digging their own graves by creating such huge social discontent, just as sure as the deposed Shah did....

It's difficult not to be below the poverty level when...

... you have to go to work each day and yet your employer hasn't paid you for six months or more.  I personally know of two people in this situation, and I'm told that it is a very common occurence.  The rationale for continuing to work is that one day the boss's cash flow may improve and he'll pay you.  The other side of the coin is that if you quit your job then you will never get paid, or find another job for that matter.
