TEHRAN, March 5 (MNA) – The two Iranian warships ignored Israel’s radio
contact calling on them to introduce themselves, Navy Commander
Habibollah Sayyari said on Saturday.
Two Iranian warships, Khark
and Alvand docked in Syria on February 23 after passing through the Suez
Canal into the Mediterranean Sea.
In the Red Sea, Israel,
through a radio contact, asked the Iranian navy officials onboard the
warships to introduce themselves, but the Iranian officials said “It is none of your business” and continued sailing, Rear Admiral Sayyari told reporters.
The Zionist regime also threatened the warships several times and tried to depict the region as dangerous, he added.
In addition, Israel had put pressure on Syria and Egypt to disturb the mission of the Iranian warships, he noted.
Elsewhere
in his remarks, the commander said the battleship Alvand saved a trade
vessel of Hong Kong when it was attacked by the pirates in the Red Sea.
Sayyari went on to say that the fleet is still in the Red Sea to continue its mission.
He said dispatching warships to other countries will continue in order to fight the spread of Iranophobia.
