North Koreans to celebrate Kim Jong-il's birthday
16-Feb-2011 (one comment)

People in North Korea are expected to join mass celebrations to mark the birthday of their leader Kim Jong-il.

In previous years there have been carefully orchestrated displays of feverish loyalty from crowds, as well as festivals and artistic performances.

In the last few days, North Korean TV has shown senior party workers and military officers pledging their endless admiration for Kim Jong-il.

Mr Kim is in poorer health after a reported stroke in recent years.
