TEHERAN - IRAN on Saturday hanged an Iranian-Dutch woman, Zahra Bahrami, after she was found guilty of selling and possessing drugs, state media reported, quoting the Teheran prosecutor's office.
'A drug trafficker named Zahra Bahrami, daughter of Ali, was hanged early on Saturday morning after she was convicted of selling and possessing drugs,' state television said on its website, quoting the prosecutor's office.
Bahrami, an Iranian-born naturalised Dutch citizen, was reportedly arrested after joining a protest against the government while visiting relatives in the Islamic republic.
The Netherlands said that the Iranian authorities had refused the Dutch embassy access to the prisoner because they did not recognise her dual nationality. -- AFP

another iranian executed
by hamsade ghadimi on Sat Jan 29, 2011 08:07 AM PSTanother iranian executed and regime supporters are out in numbers to oppose any sentiment by those who express disgust over these repugnant events.
shifteh, thanks for spreading the news.
What is more disturbing?
by Simorgh5555 on Sat Jan 29, 2011 07:10 AM PSTOn the one hand you have Neda Agha Soltan a symbol of Iranian freedom movement and an inspiration for the hopes and aspirations of women and on the other you have Fussygorilla and Niloufar Parsi. Here are two women who admit that they reside in the West and enjoy the freedom of not having to be forced to wear Islamic clothing and are free to do as they please whilst thousands of women are subjugated in Iran, beaten, tortured, raped and suffer legal discrimination. Instead of condemning the murder of another innocent woman one of them even slanders the dead by believing the fabricated of drug smuggling accusation made against her.
Kash he yek muye Neda ru sare ina bud.

Islamo-nazi terrorist regime
by Agha_Irani on Sat Jan 29, 2011 07:02 AM PSTThis wave of executions is just like the massacres of 1988 committed by the same criminal mafia that has terrorized Iran for over 30 years. The islamo-nazis are executing their political opponents under the name of "drug-smuggling", "rape" and "enemy of God" - all this is just a distraction to kill their political opponents.
These crimes of the islamo-nazis should be publicized and every effort made to isolate further and remove this terrorist regime.

all countries engage in propaganda and some or other form of 'photoshop'.

by Simorgh5555 on Sat Jan 29, 2011 05:50 AM PSTSo the official number of 108 people that have been hanged in Iran is totally fabricated by the West and there is no killing and no torture whatsoever. All pictures of death, executions and torture have been created using photoshop and CGI to convince people to go to war for Israel. If only for just one second you surrender just an inch of your compassion for Palestinians towards the millions of Iranians in the hell on earth called the Islamic Republic.

CaspianShark and some others
by Abarmard on Sat Jan 29, 2011 05:35 AM PSTI would not believe those people who tell you these stories.
I have family members who visit Iran and each say different things. One coming back was telling me how bad transportation was, while the other was telling me that she wished her city had what Tehran had provided for their residence!
If you have visited Iran you should know that Iranians have a tendency to makeup stories and also to make a point, exaggerate the simple situation.
Most of those people who complain about Iran, once they exit for a trip or permanent residence, realize how unreal their ideas were about Iran in comparison to the West.
One girl in a cafe in Tehran was telling us that she would be a servant cleaning homes if only she got a chance to leave Iran! She was working (if you could call it that) in a well known company doing less than 25 hours a week while making 40 hours a week paycheck. In this specific case, she was able to make it out. It has been six months and she is thinking of going back to Iran!
This is not an Iranian way of thinking alone. When I was in Germany the sales clerk was telling me that she would do ANYTHING to be able to leave Germany and live in the US. While a sales clerk with similar education in US would not have what she enjoyed as a member of social democratic society, ranging from health care, school, and overall sense of social security.
Back to Iran, Many Iranians are living better than most of the people that they want to live like! but they truly have a unrealistic image about life outside of Iran.
As I have mentioned before, it is not as bad and not as rosy either.
In regard to death penalty, I wish for a day that it would become obsolete.

Death To IR
by G. Rahmanian on Sat Jan 29, 2011 04:41 AM PSTIn the IR confession under duress is nothing new. As long as the murderous regime of IR is in power, these crimes will not end.

by fussygorilla on Sat Jan 29, 2011 03:55 AM PSTYour last sentence tells it all that where YOU are coming from. I don't live in Iran but visit. I have no relatives in Iran, north or south. I AM a woman and am opposed to the wearing of hijab if it is (and it is) compulsory but would support any woman who voluntarily(for any reason, religious or otherwise)decides to wear it.
There are lots of problems in Iran, as indeed there are in other countries, but there have been tremendous progress despite the ruthless sanctions that U.S. has imposed. You seem to ignore that the government subsidies that just started is helping all the poor and working class people, including those who hold two jobs to feed their families (hopefully all the administrative bugs will be removed soon). As to women, I could debate it with you but it would be useless to debate issues with closed-minded persons who have been brainwashed by the Western media of lies and propaganda or have their own personal agendas. This is my one and only comment to you.
Fussy Gorilla
by Simorgh5555 on Sat Jan 29, 2011 02:58 AM PSTSo because you and your relatives visit Iran, enjoying ashe rshte and house parties completely oblivious to the hardships of every day life for most Iranians then Iran is utopia. So long as you reside in the comfortable confines of your north Tehran apartment and visit your villa in Gilan Iran is utopia. So long as you are not a woman and have to be subjected to the Gashete Ershad for wearing painting your finger nails and wearing the hijab incorrectly its OK. So long as you do not have to hold down two jobs and drive minicabs in the middle of the night just to make ends meet its ok. So long as you are not a journalist and having to censor yourslf or get thrown in prison its OK.
So long as you are not exposed to every day arrests. torture and rope its not your problem.
Yes, even IF one person like Zahra is murdered without cause then there is a moral duty to remove the regime which caused her death. there are and have been thousands of Zahras languishing in prison and being tortured.
The price for removing the regime and spoiling your future holiday destination in Iran is a cost you have to pay.
Death to the Islamic Republic and its supporters.

by fussygorilla on Sat Jan 29, 2011 02:27 AM PSTGorillas have higher I.Q. than people who subscribe to the propaganda that fills the pages of the I.C. Your family and friends who have traveled to Iran are just as much liars as those who fabricate other anti-Iran news mostly relying on BBC and such. I also visited Iran in less than a year ago and there is none of what your family members have told you. Why should anyone believe them?
PEOPLE PLEASE
by Simorgh5555 on Sat Jan 29, 2011 01:25 AM PSTWhen will you understand?
Another 110 will be executed next month if not more. There will be more arrests. There will be more torture. Your protests outside the embassy and drawing media coverage against the regime will delay the killings but it will not stop them. You can feel all the outrage and anguish that you want but it won't change a god damn thing. The regime will continue to kill women like Zahra for trumped up drug charges and there is NOTHING you can do about it. nothing.
Deep down in the bottom of your heart YOU KNOW IT. THIS REGIME WILL NOT GO WITHOUT A FIGHT. You MUST support military action and arm an Iranian liberation armyor the civilian mass movement against the Islamic Republic. PLEASE SUPPORT MILITARY ACTION NOW!
fussygorilla!
by CaspianShark on Sat Jan 29, 2011 01:11 AM PSTYour IQ must be as of a gorilla for sure!
Just because the regime labels these brave people as drug traffickers, that means to you they are? I have had friends and family who went to Iran in recent years and told me horror stories on how the IR agents put drugs on whoever person's car or purse that they want to get rid off and label them as drug traffickers and kill them a few days later. It is much easier for the government to set people up with either drug charges or being in the MKO group than anything else.
Have you ever heard that these murderers tell us, they hung someone for what he/she believed or because he or she wanted freedom and a better life for Iranians?
yolanda...
by fussygorilla on Fri Jan 28, 2011 11:34 PM PSTWhat is your point? If there are a thousand drug smugglers, there should be 1000 executions to get rid of those who make money selling the instruments of death.
execution is right punishment
by fussygorilla on Fri Jan 28, 2011 11:32 PM PSTfor drug smugglers and also for membership and support of Mujahedin Khalq traitors. So, why are you distorting the facts and labeling her as just a person who participated in anti-election demonstration? Only your own ilk will beleive this propaganda.
