درخواست جهانی برای آزادی ابراهیم یزدی و سایر زندانیان سیاسی

۱۳۲ نویسنده، متفکر و استاد دانشگاه از سراسر جهان خواستار آزادی فوری و بدون قید و شرط ابراهیم یزدی، رهبر نهضت آزادی ایران شدند. این چهره‌های جهانی با ارسال نامه‌ای به آیت‌الله خامنه‌ای از وی خواستند که ابراهیم یزدی و دیگر زندانیان سیاسی و عقیدتی در ایران را آزاد کند.
در این نامه خطاب به رهبر جمهوری اسلامی آمده است که تنها جرم زندانیان سیاسی «اعتراض صلح‌آمیز در برابر سیاست‌های دولت شما بوده است.» استادان و روشنفکران جهان گوشزد می‌کنند که بازداشت و تجاوز به حقوق زندانیان سیاسی «غیرقابل توجیه اصول و روابط پذیرفته شده بین‌المللی» بوده و «قطعاَ بی‌حرمتی به همه ادیانی است که اساس اصول عدالت، رعایت قوانین و شفقت هستند.»
امضا‌کنندگان نامه ضمن بر شمردن فعالیت‌های سیاسی و تصدی پست ‌وزارت امورخارجه از سوی ابراهیم ‌یزدی در کابینه مهدی بازرگان تاکید می‌کنند که وی همیشه به اعدام‌های خودسرانه در دوران پس از انقلاب... >>>

I only want him freed, not so he can enjoy the rest of his shameful life in the peaceful West, where ironically he has sent both his son and daughter, Yousef and Sarah, to enjoy the freedoms, he himself denied millions of Iranians, but so that WE in the West can re-arrest him and bring him under the jurisprudence of a Western court.  The West has to sentence him, not a dark aged Islamic tribunal.
