by acopier101 on Sun Jan 16, 2011 09:02 PM PSTFrom Fars News Agency, here is exactly what Major General Gholamali Rashid said: “Of course I have to say that these aircrafts were downed outside of Islamic Republic of Iran’s [air] space, meaning outside of FIR [Flight Information Region].”
There might be a difference between what is defined as "air space" and what is "FIR". I don't know the difference.
