Robert Gates is not buying the 'credible military threat' against Iran

am profoundly relieved to hear that someone in our administration has a
head on their shoulders. That person is US Defense Secretary Secretary Robert Gates

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in the US on Sunday,  most
likely still riding high on the success of the US midterm elections
whereby the Republican Party will seize control of the House of
Representatives effective January 1, 2011.

He arrived already beating the drums of war against Iran, telling
Vice President Joe Biden, during their meeting in New Orleans, that the
only way Iran would give up its nuclear weapons ambition was through a
'credible military threat', since he felt the international sanctions
program had not been effective.  Somewhat echoing that sentiment was a
statement from Republican Senator Lindsey Graham on Saturday, which
declared that conservatives want bold action taken against Iran.

Biden
said after the talks that the sanctions 'have a bite' and were having a
'measurable impact', though he expressed frustration that Tehran had
brushed aside overtures by President Barack Obama's adminis... >>>
