"a decent woman," as seen on state television:

A woman who chews gum is either a trafficker or a prostitute.

A decent woman always wears a men's shirt at home.

A decent woman is a woman who in the morning comes out of another room (not the same room as her husband) and says good morning to her husband.

A decent woman is a woman who wears clothing that is three, four sizes too big.

A decent female anchor never reveals her first name.

A decent woman only smiles at wedding parties and men are allowed to clap their hands a little.

A decent married woman stays at home; if she's single she's allowed to work.

A decent woman is a woman who will marry the man she met in a car accident by the end of the television serial.

A decent woman doesn't wear sunglasses, she has an Arabic name, if she's over 40 she's either washing the dishes or sewing a dress, a decent woman is never reading.

A decent woman wears only black, gray, and brown.

A decent woman is a woman who forgives her husband who has married a second wife by the end of the film.

After Brezhnev died, Gorbachev took over and started reform, perestroika, and glasnost........Soviet Union collapsed and so did Communism.....

After Mao Tze-tung died, Deng Xiao-ping took over, China started reform.........China's economy has improved big time.....people have more freedom, too........ 

Sometimes, the death of the dictators can have some positive impact!

Ignorance

I am often appalled by the ignorance people have of Iranians and their Persian history.  But then I am also appalled by the ignorance of people who are Mormons and their history.  My wife is a Mormon, she is also a CFO in a real estate developing firm, beyond that she also sewed her own wedding dress when we married.  "Decent" women are not decent due to the forced subservience of an oppressor whether it be a man, organization or state.  You err in your reflection of Mormons and your comparison is somewhat shallow.  Khamenei's death will do little when you have a corrupt group of imams who have usurped the rights of the people for their own wealth and well being.  Khamenei is merely a symptom, not the problem.

Thank you, IranFirst, for all the additional info........wow! it is really mind-boggling........but it has helped me understand a lot of things.........The "decent" women portrayed in this article remind me of Mormon women, they have to concentrate on the domestic stuff and forget about being a career person also.......Mormons had polygamy also.......a lot of similarities......

I am still chuckling over the "car accident" romance.....OMG!

so cross-dressing is considered "decent?"

IRI: Women don't need fancy dresses, since they should be at home
most of the time to clean cook and provide sex (for man's pleasure
only). When they go out all they need is a Chador. Using the men's shir
for women saves money too.

so decent woman can't share the same room with her hubby? OMG!

In a fair world she had spent her time in the other room with her
OTHER husbands and boyfriends, since the first husband can have 4 wives
and unlimited Sighes

IRI: Woman don't need first name, they can be called by the name of their owner (Husband's last name)

This not a joke I know strict Muslims in Iran that call their wife
"Manzel" meaning the "house", instead of her first name! The poor wife
is a property as good as the house (maybe lower in husband's view, since
the house value goes up over time) :-(

The jealous Muslim hubby (most of he time many years older and less
attractive than the wife) is always afraid ha someone would steel his
belonging (wife). There is more chance of that if she works.

marriage (always be passive), let her meet the husband "accidentally",
get married (no love necessary) and  produce good Muslim kids and have

IRI: The only good reading is reading of Quran, which has all the
answers. Other  reading is distracting for women who should be doing the
cooking and cleaning raising kids and providing sex at anytime (for
husband's pleasure only)
