September 23, 2010 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- The American hiker who was held prisoner in Iran has detailed her ordeal with Oprah Winfrey in her first television interview since she was released.
Sarah Shourd was in prison for 14 months and was freed last week. Her fiance and their friend continue to be held in Iran. They were arrested after hiking along the Iraq-Iran border and accused of being spies.
Shourd described to Winfrey what it was like to be held in captivity.
"Just being thrown into a box having committed no crime, having no idea in a million years that would happen to me. That alone, being in prison, that's a horrible experience," she said.
Shourd's entire interview can be seen on the re-broadcast of Oprah Thursday night at 11:05 p.m.
