Preemptive Israeli strike on Iran!? Stop the madness now!

Washington, DC – A draft resolution is circulating among members of the House of Representatives that endorses an Israeli military attack on Iran “if no other peaceful solution can be found within reasonable time.”

The resolution, written by Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and currently being circulated for cosponsors prior to its introduction, does not clarify what is meant by a “reasonable time.”

“The United States does not want or seek war with Iran” the resolution states in its introductory section, “but it will continue to keep all options open to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.” It goes on to express support for “Israel’s right to use all means necessary to confront and eliminate nuclear threats posed by Iran…including the use of military force.”

Most elected officials and military experts often characterize a potential military attack on Iran as an “option of last resort;” this resolution is the first in the current Congress that appears to set a lower standard for taking military action against Iran.

Regardless of whether Israel were to obtain formal approval by the United States to carry out an attack, most experts agree that the US would likely be held responsible by countries in the region, which could draw American troops into a third military confrontation in the Middle East.

by capt_ayhab on

Sane[so called] world yet again looking to spill more bloods.

This insanity indeed must be stopped. Haven't they in the so called sane world spilled enough blood in past ten years?

Israel has been at war ever since its inception, US has been at war aggregate of 45 years since WWII.

Enough is enough We have seen enough of you insanity and thirst for blood.

Iranians do not need Taliban

by kavehbc1 on

No We Iranians do not need them. The Taliban and the Republicans sell the same kind of blind religious zealotry, misogyny, and trumped up phony sense of outrage over any expression of opposition. They are truly soul mates. Iran needs to get away from those morally bankrupt ideas and practices and NOT getting close to them!

Timothy: I must admit,

I was wrong thinking that you would welcome such resolution very much and for that I am sorry.

This is madness. Haven't we had enough war? What is to accomplish? No wonder Republicans are well known for being warmongers. Or is it more like kissing the Israelis behind to get the votes at home?

Republicans are Wingnuts

by kavehbc1 on

What do you really expect from representatives of a group who think Obama is the Antichrist, Hitler like, Muslim, and  a Socialist according to a newly released Harris Poll?! Republicans are slowly morphing to Taliban.

This must be stopped before it gets wider circulation

The very notion of  such  resolution, that would allow a country to pre-emptively attack another country is just criminal.  We must let our reps in congress know --BEFORE-- it gets out of control where we stand.
