BERLIN — Iranian director Rafi Pitts said Tuesday this entry at the Berlin Film Festival, a drama set against the backdrop of recent political tensions, might not get past censors in his home country.
Pitts got clearance to make "Shekarchi" (The Hunter) on location, but this was shortly before the unrest that followed the disputed re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last June, he said.
"The similarities between the tension in 'The Hunter' and what ended up happening in Iran after the elections is uncanny," Pitts said.
"When you make a film you want to be shown where it's made, that's only natural. I believe this film will be shown, that's why I made it. The question is how long it will take to be shown. If only I could answer," Pitts said.
