Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu paid an official visit to Iran on September 12-13, during which he met Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, parliamentary speaker Ali Larijani and the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council and Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili.

Following his meeting with Mottaki, Davutoglu and his counterpart stressed the importance they attach to bilateral relations, as well as regional cooperation. Davutoglu noted that the two countries shared deep-rooted historical ties and their neighborly relations are based on the principle of refraining from interfering in each other's affairs. He outlined many areas where they explored boosting bilateral relations, ranging from economic cooperation to security. Referring to this multi-dimensional partnership, Mottaki described Turkish-Iranian relations as "strategic".

is at Iran's side. Any country with half ass smart leadership has figured it out that if they play their cards right they can easily exploit iran and make billions of dollars from mardom badbakht Iran. List of coutries sucking us dry are long: china, russia, turkey, E.U, UAE Latin America , list goes on on that's all. I never forget what a Turkish minister said years a go: There is an opportunity here dealing with Iran that may never ever happen again for a long time so utilize it the best you can.

I think what Gholam-e Khamenei means...

is that an actual "turkey" (the bird) is standing next to the mullahs.  Being that mullahs are "turkeys" themselves, it makes perfect sense.

Please don't get the two confused.

Why Turkey wouldn't stand with Iran?

by Abarmard on

They have gained economically from stupidity of the Islamic Republic and her lack of friends. From transferring oil and Gas to all other products, including buying Turkey's old and out of line air planes, Turkey has enjoyed the Islamic Republic policies.

As Iran drops in ranks in all areas of running a country, Turkey has been able to leverage their location and become a economical powerhouse in the region. While their people are enjoying democracy and are full of hope for their future, Iranian society is experiencing the exact opposite.

If Iran was not the Islamic Republic, Turkey would be a poor country as she always had been.
