President Mugabe has congratulated Islamic Republic of Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for winning the recent elections in his country and blasted the West for funding post-election disturbances in a bid to discredit the poll outcome.

In a meeting with visiting Iranian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Mohammad Reza Bagheri at Zimbabwe House yesterday, the Head of State and Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces said Western interference had led to the disturbances.

"We are aware of the outside world, the imperialist world, who never accept our ways of doing things.

"They are always finding ways and means of creating disturbances. We saw what they were doing but we are happy the situation is now under control and President Ahmadinejad has been sworn-in," he said.

It's not a suprise?

It was only to be expected... and somewhat predictable.

What ever and who ever we are in this world we will always attract others with similarity. They also say opposites attract but I think in the cases of tyranical leaders, that's unlikely.

However there is one hope to hang onto: the negativity involved in this union and others that the IRI  has chosen to link itself to will ultimatley prove to be part of IRI's downfall.

There is a point of no return and the IRI certainly has gone past its point. That IRI's allies consist of such a motley bunch is proof in itself. No govt of any integrity will support IRI. IRI's choices are reducing with every move they make.
