Australian police asked to probe Iran daughter's removal

Six years after a young Iranian girl was secretly taken from her father at an immigration detention centre in South Australia, the case has been referred to the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

The girl was seven at the time and her father was in solitary confinement at the then Baxter Immigration Detention Facility.

He was told his daughter was being taken on a shopping trip.

Earlier this year the Commonwealth Ombudsman found that the girl's removal from Baxter was intentionally kept secret from her father.

The head of refugee advocacy group A Just Australia, Kate Gauthier, has been involved in the case of Mr X since the beginning.
