9:49 am: Bazaar closures in Tabriz – According to kodoom, the ‘kafashian bazaar’ in Tabriz has been shut down for 2 weeks now. The wide closures are attributed to the ongoing non-violent demonstrations against the presidential elections.Kodoom further states that 16 of the main bazaar merchants have been invited by the courts to partake in seminars which aim to teach the merchants property law and how to be “proper” merchants. However according to kodoom, these invitations have all been ignored
>>>How strange..it can't just be the bazaar...and it can't just be Tabriz..according to Yasmine's current featured blog, there are virtually complete work stoppages all over Kurdestan, which is hardly surprising given that it is the hotbed of labor activity in Iran..and what "ongoing non-violent demonstrations"? And why did it take Kodoom two weeks to report it? Or did it report it and niac didn't pick it up til today? I doubt that but I can't read that goddam Persian again..so strange..there must be so much going on that we're not hearing about here...why not? If I could read the Persian, I would find out.
I will find out anyway. I will start by asking Yasmine. SHe reads Persian.
I should've kept up my studies. Who knew?

My comment is disturbing me,
by rosie is roxy is roshan on Thu Jul 09, 2009 03:01 PM PDTnot that anyone may care but I'll say it anyway for myself and for the record. It wasn't on Yasmine's blog that I saw the information about work stoppages in Kurdistan and I can't find where it was, and that disturbs me. But I'm positive I saw it. However if anything Yasmine's blog toward the end says workers' unions aren't participating but before that insists it is also a working class movement, so that contradiction remains to be resolved. In any case my not being able to locate it really does bother me because I'm normally very meticulous about these things..
That's okay, Rosie. Thaks, Roxy. Anytime, Roshan.
