Shots fired at huge Iran protest

Shots have been fired during a massive rally in Iran against last week's presidential election results, with reports saying one person was killed. Hundreds of thousands rallied to support candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi, but a group of them was fired on from a militia base they had surrounded. Mr Mousavi has lodged a legal appeal against the result but says he is not optimistic it will succeed. He says the vote was fixed - a claim President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad denies.

We would like our football

by Freedom2009 (not verified) on

We would like our football players/team to show solidarity with the nation wide cause by NOT PLAYING in the upcoming televised world cup qualifying games.

This will prevent the government from using the televised games to show everything is as normal.

Also, it will demonstrate how peaceful educated demonstrators don't like Ahmadinejad comparing them to football hooligans passing red lights.

Since state television is used to only propagate government's propaganda, not being able to televise the football games will be self defeating to the government.

Awful

by Kaveh Nouraee on

I've already seen one photo on TV of a man killed by these thugs. Now a little girl.

I also read one report where a guy was beaten to a pulp in the street, and said afterwards, "I really hate Iran right now".

I'm sickened by this.

Those who thought that there could actually be some kind of reforms with these thugs in power, I hope you're satisfied.
