TEHRAN (Reuters) -- Iran's leading authority has accused the United States of promoting terrorism in border areas and using arms and money against the Islamic state, in his latest verbal attack on Tehran's archenemy.Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's comments in a televised speech are likely to further disappoint the U.S. administration of President Barack Obama, which is seeking rapprochement with Iran after three decades of mutual mistrust.

Terrorism

by smhb on

Hmmmm, how dare anyone accuse the morally bankrupt uncle sam of terrorism? Why would they? After all uncle sam is not the biggest seller of deadly weapons on the planet, uncle sam is not involved in multiple wars and civil wars and coups and .... uncle sam never overthrew democratically elected governments and replaced them by brutal blood thirsty tin pot dictators like the shah and pinochet and marcus and batista and etc.... uncle sam never trained death squads all over the planet specially in central and latin america that went on a murderous rampage, uncle sam never trained secret polices of 3rd world dictators in torture, uncle sam does not have the distinguished honarary place in history to actually have used nuclear weapons against civilians and a non nuclear state, uncle sam has never threatened non nuclear states with nuclear war and blackmail.

Did I just say uncle sam? Oooooops, I meant the US government and its allies in england, france, and israhell too.

I guess you have been keeping your head in the sand for a long time and have no clue what is really happening out there.

"Comic Book"?, get real. He made it simple so that you would not have any problems understanding the material and could easily relate. I guess that was too much for you, no?

What difference does it make how many(exact numbers) innocent people have been the victims of the "Super Powers" since WWII?

Even if it was a handfull of innocent people, it is too many, unless you are not human and have no compassion for humanity.

Iranian Leader Says?? Who cares??

by 1 Hamvatan (not verified) on

I believe we all missed the point from that news. It really has nothing to do with anything, just scare tactics for Kurdish people who hates him more that anything in the world.

That guy said all those b.s. just to say this at the end:

"Khamenei on May 18 urged Iranians to support anti-Western candidates, without openly supporting Mahmud Ahmadinejad, who is a vocal opponent of Western policies."

Which most likely meant to say: yeah vote for my little antar, because the rest of the candidates are working with foreign forces or something!

Although this guy never made sense before, this time, he reads the script from what the British want him to say.

Perhaps your comprehension of the English language is lacking.

However, I addressed the issue directly.

Whether or not you find my response satisfactory is of zero concern to me. Nor do I harbor a desire to impress anyone, as you clearly are trying to do.

Best of luck to you in your endeavor.

Wow, impressive

by Bavafa on

Even though, it seems you have enough in you to comprehend the issue as you have put it in bold, yet you did not speak a word of it (the issue)

I don't need to impress others, you are doing a just fine job for the both of us.

The issue here is not a question of whether or not anyone believes the US engages in state terrorism, the issue is Khamenei's assertion that the US does engage in it, and his criticism of it.

You might want to try and spend a little more time understanding the issue and a little less time trying to impress certain people on this thread.

book?

by anonymous fish on

that comic book is your source and reference?  documentary?  no, i don't think so.  :-)  mind you, i'm not disputing the theory, but 10 million (mostly innocent) people?  no.  i don't think so.

You remind of a Farsi saying that goes some thing like this "Mulla mano paand meedad, khodesh meeraft koon meedad"

Weren't you the one that criticized others in another posting, just last night, to keep it to the issue. The issue is being alleged and discussed here if US does engage in a state terrorism, not if Iran does the same thing or not. So keep to it.

Dear who knows what Fish

by farokh2000 on

I did say I have this information from the documentary book called "Addicted to War".

This book was published just around the time the criminal Bush started the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan. At that time it said the number was over 8M  dead.

If you add what they have done in the last 8 years in Iraq and Afghanistan, you will arrive at the number I estimated.

You can look up, buy and read this book. I am sure it is very educational to any reader, who wants to know, including you, of course

Well, Who Knows

by MiNeum71 on

Seymour Hersh, Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalist for the New Yorker, has an annoying habit of being right about this sort of thing. He broke the Abu Ghraib story long before the MSM even had a sniff of it.

In this clip he talks about his latest article (June 2008) titled Preparing the battlefield with Candy Crowley on CNN's Late Edition. Sy reports that the US is already engaged in clandestine operations in Iran.

farok.  would you please provide proof as to the murder of 10 MILLION people (mostly innocent of course) since WWII?

please.  don't pass up this chance to teach us something.

I am laughing because it is laughable

by Kaveh Nouraee on

for Khamenei or anyone else in the IRI to utter a word regarding the U.S. promoting terrorism, while the IRI has turned it into its own industry. All they would need is a prospectus and an IPO and they would make Microsoft look like penny stock.

I'm laughing because people like you have the nerve to excuse what the IRI does in this arena, perpetually whitewashing it with layer upon layer of bull, while condemning what the United States does as evil, imperialistic, anti-Islamic, a promotion of Zionism and Israel, and on and on and on.

I laugh because people like you try to explain away the actions of the IRI as somehow being just, yet none of you live there. You live here, enjoying all of the freedoms and liberties afforded you as a naturalized citizen or resident alien of the U.S., yet they are always on the receiving end of your wrath.

I won't say that this country is perfect. On the contrary, it's culturally and morally bankrupt in my opinion. But compared to the IR, this is paradise on earth.

People like you call yourselves enlightened and educated, yet still have yet to learn that you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Right now, I don't know what's more laughable: that idiot Khamenei with his chronic verbal diahrrea or that you consider yourselves educated and enlightened.

farokh2000

He has a point but........

by farokh2000 on

It is ture that US  has been directly or indirectly reposnsible for the murder of more than 10M people(mostly innocent) since WWII, "Addicted to War".

The Mulllahs would love to keep pace but don't have the weapons and other resources and that is why they are jealous.

you're right about one thing.  the word is grossly misused and overused.

Nothing funny, a true statement

by 1L on

Whats there to laugh about? the US is probably one of the largest sponsors of terrorism (either having formerly armed groups such as Al Qaeda or funding State backed terrorists such as the IDF). Besides the word terrorism is completely misused anyway... go read the Jerusalem Post, every attack on their soldiers (read not civilians) is selectively called "terrorism"

what's to laugh about?

by IRANdokht on

Didn't US arm and train Al-Qaeda and the Taliban?

There are so many groups that have been supported by US to advance US political agenda and most of them have gone on eventually turning against the US. It's a known fact and documented enough for all of you laughing here to check out and educate yourselves.

Now when Khamenei says it, he has an agenda and this is the games the mullahs know how to play better than anyone. But don't dismiss what he's saying just because of Khamenei's own political agenda. There is some truth to it and you know it.
