Iranian couple's Journey to freedom fulfilled

Azita and Ahmad Shafaghat became Christians in Islamic Iran 10 years ago and have been on the run ever since. The couple's long journey to freedom ended yesterday afternoon when their plane touched down in Vancouver. There to greet them at the international gate was human rights advocate Nazanin Afshin-Jam, a former Canadian beauty queen who has traded her tiara to become a dogged advocate for refugees, women and children around the globe. Looking drawn but bright-eyed after a long overseas flight, the couple smiled when they spotted Ms. Afshin-Jam in the crowd. Ms. Shafaghat ran into Ms. Afshin-Jam's arms as camera crews swarmed the trio.
