Israel Seriously Considering Attack on Iran

If the Israelis were seriously considering an attack on Iran, I doubt it would be plastered all over the Jerusalem Post.

From the JP March 5th: "Israel is seriously considering taking unilateral military action to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, according to a report by top US political figures and experts released Wednesday. The report also says Israel's time frame for action is growing shorter, not only because of Iranian advances, but because Tehran might soon acquire upgraded air defenses and disperse its nuclear program to additional locations."

Israel is likely to want to be able to maintain its ability to determine its own course with respect to Iran, and to not be tied to dictates from the Obama administration.

Suicide bombing. Israel cannot exist for more than a very limited time without unconditional US financial and military support. People continually point out, correctly, that Gaza resembles the Warsaw Ghetto but the point that most of them miss is that the bigger Warsaw ghetto the hardliners are creating is their own isolation from the family of nations. If Israel loses the support of the US, they are finished. Finished. Not one single country in the world will support them. If Israel makes a major incursion into Gaza or attacks Iran unprovoked (and it would be unprovoked..) they will lose Obama's, i.e. President of Foreign Affairs Clinton's support. It is suicide bombing pure and simple.

The hardliners are desperate to consolidate support against a coalition government and they are using jingoism to rally and expand their base If they act on it before the elections, their goose is cooked.  If they don't and there is a coalition government, it won't happen. If they don't and there is no coaliton government we will just have to wait and see how suicidal these hardliners have really become.
