U.S. Says Iran Has Material for an Atomic Bomb

"We think they do, quite frankly,” Admiral Mullen said on “State of the Union” on CNN. “And Iran having a nuclear weapon, I’ve believed for a long time, is a very, very bad outcome for the region and for the world.”

i hear you!  it's a mexican standoff no matter how you look at it.  i'm not sure i blame iran at all for saying "enough already". and it's so easy for the US to point fingers because we're supposed to be the "good guys".  on the other hand, khodesheh is right too... why not open up.  i keep thinking that the mullahs SURELY can't be so stupid as to INVITE provocation!  but what if they are!  what if they don't care about the loss of civilian life as long as they get what they want... a full scale atomic war!  at least obama is cool headed.  that probably pisses the mullahs off more than anything...lol

"Oh what a tangled web we weave,
When first we practise to deceive!"

Mullahs are certinaly hiding something otherwise they would have come clean long long time ago and would not play into the hands of warmongers and give them any kind of EXCUSE.

If you remember Iraq, it is not possible to prove a negative. It is said that if Iran accepted the additional protocol for inspections, it would clarify ambiguities. As well as the fact of Iran having done that for two years voluntarily in the past before it was reported to the Security Council illegally, but additional protocol would involve exposure of conventional military sites and other facilities, which would make Iran extremely vulnerable to attack. Iranian negotiators even suggested the acceptance of the additional protocol, if Iran's file, subsequent to the finalisation of the IAEA/Iran plan last February, was returned to the rightful jurisdiction of the IAEA. But it was not to be. That is why the issue of security guarantees for Iran is so crucial, but it is not forthcoming. In so far as the US cannot be held accountable for breaking and disrespecting international law, the guarantees themselves are meaningless.

When Iraq was finally 'shocked and awed' in March 2003, it had been searched, all its military facilities combed by inspectors, their whereabouts and capabilities all known, and just before the bombing began it was disarmed of its medium range scud missiles which were not prohibited by international law!!!

I too wish Iran could accept the Additional Protocol ...

it's hard to believe just how evil

they are... bush, cheney, rove, rumsfield.  time had dimmed the lies somewhat and hope and optimism with obama had dulled the pain.  thanks for the reminder.  it can't come too often.

i wish someone... anyone... could speak with authority when it comes to iran.  the US can't keep shouting "wolf" and expect us to keep buying it.  but god help us if iran is lying.  why can't they just prove it one way or the other.
