Iran sends mixed signals on Obama victory
LA Times / Borzou Daragahi

Instead of extending an olive branch to President-elect Barack Obama, who says he is open to talks with Tehran, Iranian military officials Wednesday delivered what could be interpreted as a sobering message to America. Leaders of the armed forces issued a notice warning U.S. forces that any violation of Iranian airspace would be met with force. "The radicals aren't happy about Obama's victory," said Saeed Leylaz, a Tehran analyst and newspaper editor often critical of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's government. "To the radicals this change is not to their advantage."

Another Iranian reporter like Sadjadpour

by Jaleho on

who says what Americans want to hear (from an Iranian reporter) to keep his pathetic job with a famed paper!

He repeats the THING that HIS TYPE have been saying way before the outcome of election, as a FACT! Describing Ahmadinejad by the crazy image they created of him here, not the smart leader who was elected by Iranians because they thought he wouldn't compromise their right to nuclear energy, and is trying to reach out to America. Dargahi writes:

"Obama's victory could take the wind out of the sails of hard-liners who have consolidated their power on the threat of an American attack and weekly chants of "Death to America!" at Friday prayers. Leylaz predicted that outreach by the Obama administration might spell the end of Ahmadinejad and usher in a more pragmatic government more amenable to compromise over Iran's nuclear program."

Dargahi, in order to support his nonsense, FORGOT to report the ACTUAL contradictory news that Ahmadinejad was one of the first foreign leaders to congratualte Obama, and he was the first Iranian leader since 1979 to send a message to a US president, congratualting him.

He also forgets the fact is that fall of Bush must recognize new power balance in the region. It started when Bush FAILED to create the new order he wanted to force upon the region, but the idiot refused to accept defeat. The tough job is that of the new president, whoever he was. The countries in the region are just asking that reality to be recognized by the new president of the US.

Here's how poeple in Georgia told their US-installed lackey, Sakaashvili, that Bush era is finished, and his puppet's time is running out:

//news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7715735.stm

And here's how Russia welcomed Obama (Washington Times):

"Russia welcomed President-elect Barack Obama on to the world stage Wednesday with a threat to move missile launchers into Kaliningrad, a region in between Poland and Lithuania, unless the incoming administration backs off a Bush administration plan for a missile defense system in Eastern Europe."

Iran is in the most urgent position to also remind America that it can not tolerate threats. That is so since there are so many crazy neocon and Israeli-firsts around a lame duck Bush, who are dying to see an attack on Iran before Bush goes away, and force Obama with a fait accompli.

Yet, our Iranian reporters instead of recognizing that, have to single out  Iran, hide the real news, twist others as some kind of idiotic hardliner trying to save thier own hold on power in Iran!!

IRI and George Bush have a lot in common

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

They talk a big talk in the safety of their respective nations. But they dont have the balls to confront each other face to face. I hope this changes with Obama. He seems to have more courage. But that f-ing Israel lobby has us by the nuts.... but it's to their detriment too.

IRI is sending mix signals

by Farhad Kashani on

IRI is sending mix signals because Obama will be a nightmare for fascist regimes such as the IRI and the regime knows that well. His election itself has silenced and discredited America bashers like the regime.

IRIs leftist allies are silenced and discredited also. Its a matter of time before we'll see Presidnet Obama standing with the Iranian people in their struggle for freedom and liberty.

mixed signal

by smhb on

Well, I didnt hear any mixed signals. This is an opening as far as Im concerned. If Mr. Obama is an AIPAC Zionist agent then we all know what he will say and do. If he is interested in America's national interest then he will take a different approach.

Personally I suspect that he will end up caving to the LOBBY and follow the same policies as his predecessors. A failed policy at best.

I hope that President Obama will be able to resist the LOBBY and initiate a dialogue with Iran and help reduce or eleiminate the possibilities of another war in the ME, this time with Iran.

Lets see what happens.

Mixed signal is for the sake of pulling the wool over obama's eyes, buying time through endless negotiations and building the bomb.

Dreams become oneday reality

by IHaveADream (not verified) on

It was obvious that hardliners preferred by far someone like Bush, thanks to whom they could continue their tranquil life and tell that if times are hard for people it's because that IRI is under pressure.

But, with Obama things are completely different. Obama will negotiate with IRI and he's someone that other head of states would follow in the case that negotiations fail... So, mullahs are definitively in trouble... OuBaMast - MaBaOu

Why you think it is mixed signal?

by Damesh Garm (not verified) on

The signal is soooooooooooooooo clear;
Irani is proud to be Irani! He is talking on equal basis as always.
Nokar-sefati is a major attribute with shahparasts. It is not an Irani attribute.
