Karroubi, who announced plans on Sunday to enter the Iranian presidential race, took a swipe at his rival's economic and foreign policies. "President Ahmadinejad has failed both in his foreign and economic policies. The Central Bank of Iran has announced the inflation as more than 23 percent and soaring," said the 71-year-old cleric at a Sunday press conference.

someone GETS it!

It's good that Karroubi is speaking out. But he's a weak candidate and will probably lose to Ahmadinejad. I hope he drops out in favor of someone with a real chance.

Ahmadinejad Must Go

by Abarmard on

Ahmadinejad must lose the election. He is incapable of running the country given the state of economy alone. Almost no one currently is capable of fixing Iranian economy.

Still we are witnessing the symptoms and not the disease, since with some calculated moves we can heal portions of the economical shortcomings. One is to simplify investments, two modernize banking, and hopefully at some point develop a logical internal tax law with correct channels for responsiveness.

No candidate besides Ghalibaf at the current state is efficient.
We have two choices, go with a conservative center, Ghalibaf, who as a mayor has shown some capabilities similar to Karbaschi against corruption and money management.
Or go for Khatami (If he runs) to enjoy a more relax social environment. Would have been great to have both!

Karroubi is a "Western Puppet" ? LOL!

by Anonymous8 (not verified) on

Wait, I thought you crazy conspiracy theorists said ALL Mullah are British puppets? What happened?

Where do people get this kind of mentality?

The elections are great thing for Iran and they will happen with great fanfare to the detriment of all Shahollahis and Ravohollahis.

Dele hamatoon besuzeh!

Fred - The missing item

by Mehdi Mazloom on

The only thing is missing in those fake Iranian elections, are the belly dancers in the Iranian Majless.Dancing the night away.

When thousand of honest, well meaning and good Iranian citizens are prevented from running for office, that by itself demonstrate the cakakapony of these so-called elections

Like that famous saying from Hanry Ford.

Iranians can vote for any party they wish, as long as that party is made of Islamic fundemetalists.

These Mullahs critsize other countries and blame them as "corrupt", yet themselves can teach others a lot about real and tangible corruption.

Karoubi is a Western Puppet

by Anonymous on

Karoubi met with George Bush Senior in Paris on Oct 10th 1980 and was deeply involved in the "October Surprise" episode of keeping the hostages through the election cycle to humiliate Jimmy Carter (that evolved into Iran-Contra); and has had a back channel to the white house ever since. He is right about Ahmadinejad's rhetoric; but Karoubi is no saint and is not fundamentally interested in either Iranian peoples freedom or welfare.

And the show goes on

by Fred on

Islamists are gearing up to put on yet another “election” show. The only question is besides their Islamist/Anti-Semites and their likeminded lefty allies constituency, who else are they going to fool with their latest masquerade production?
