The Justice Department has threatened to file criminal charges against a former top National Archives official if he testifies as a defense witness in a high-profile national security case. J. William Leonard, who resigned last January as the U.S. government's chief expert on classified information, after a bitter clash with Vice President Dick Cheney's office, has been cooperating with defense lawyers in a case charging two former officials of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) with improperly disclosing national security secrets, according to recently filed court papers.

Compare but, with her older self
by rough (not verified) on Fri Sep 12, 2008 06:27 AM PDTComparing the W's admin with the IRI is quite a stretch. However, one should regard the abuse of power of the executive branch of the George W and the trampling of the rule of law as alarming. What is disturbing is the behavior of the admin as if it "owns" the country and act as its "sovereign ruler".
Hmm, comparing ? OK,
by Farhad Kashani on Wed Sep 10, 2008 11:07 PM PDTHmm, comparing ? OK, interesting, because shinnie head can come on this site and just randomly make up things and bash the U.S as much as he/she wants, without the fear of prosecution, but if he/she was in Iran, even the thought of launching a website like this could lead you to jail.
No country on the face of the planet throughout history, has shown so much tolerance towards so much exposure of crucial national security details like the U.S has done in the last few years; the same U.S under the same “W” administration. It amazing! Even Switzerland or Holland will trial you for releasing so many national security information.
Its just funny, and sad and pathetic at the same time, that some of these Iranians don’t realize that by them having the freedom and ability to write these postings about “alleged” lack of freedom in the U.S, they’re actually contradicting themselves. Not sure how they don’t realize that!!??? Could be just the fact that they have so much hate and jealousy towards the U.S that they really don’t care how it looks like when it comes out for people to see, as long as they get the self satisfaction out of bashing the U.S, that’s good enough!!!!
Mysterious Deaths
by Fishmonger (not verified) on Tue Sep 09, 2008 08:34 PM PDTAt least the U.S. State Department tells him to shut up for security reasons. In the Islamic Republic he would just die mysteriously, in no time.
Even if you've forgotten all the assassinations by IR's death squads, you ceratanly emember Ahmad Khomeini's "mysterious death" as soon he said he was going to expose regime's crimes!!!
Oh, and his poor doctor "died mysteriously," too.
