Dear Souri, I have been highlighting my hair for years

by Anahid Hojjati on

Souri jan, my view is like yours.  I agree with you about surgery being bad when it makes a person look artificial. Like you mentioned about big lips.  For instance, Meg Ryan's new lips are not attractive.

Souri

Good question!

by Souri on

Monda jon

I've already thought about that question. First of of, I must say that not only I am not against plastic surgery but to some degree I approve it too!

I went through Lipo suction three times, and can say that my body is now bigger than before :) But still if I get a chance to afford it financially, I will do it again!

Why?
Of course I can only speak of myself. People have their own reasons to do that. My honest confession: I was looking pretty when I was younger. Now, I can't stand seeing this new image in the mirror. The person on the mirror is not me! I don't know her......and despite everything that I do to get rid of her, she is still there and doing dahan-kaji to me every time I want to look at myself in the mirror.

I ask you a question Monda jon. Do you dye your hair? I guess the answer is yes! If you tell me that you don't dye your hair, I will take it, but I will be really surprised!!!

Many women(and men) do color their white hair after the age of 30/35. Why do you think they do that?

It's for  the same reason we decide to repair those parts of our body which don't look like us, those parts which we don't agree with, those part which are in contradiction with our whole physical existence!

I have always had those big thighs and butt which I hated. I've done a Lipo on the thighs in 88 which came back to their usual size only  2 years later!!!

Then I did again another lipo in 2006. This time I did also my tummy, which doesn't stop growing big since I'm 40.The result was great at the beginning, but then they got as big as they were, this time worse than before!

The doctor say it's because I had to do exercise and I didn't!! I told him, Doctor jon, If I was an exercise person, I wouldn't need your expertise! ...and that is a fact!
Anyway.....

Overall, since the beginning of the civilization, women always wanted to look good ! All those cosmetic products and exercise machines....etc are speculated over this need of the human being. This is an animal instinct!!! Nothing can overcome that need, unless we forget about our sex (I mean jensiat here, not the sexual desires)

But I am against any and everything which will look artificial!!!

Like the artificial boobs, The very artificial look of some nose jobs, The awful trace of the knife under a very tight belly (which is called tummy tuck!!)

and I hate those eyebrows which goes to the sky and make the eyes looking "vahshat zadeh", the lips which go to all sides when the person is speaking (those silicon tolombeh lips which you see on the face of some of L.A Iranian TV women)....etc.

I believe surgery and/or the plastic surgery are good when they are used moderately to keep us feeling "normal"!

But they are bad when they are used as an obsession, and later they may become the very reason of our lack of confidence!

Having said that, I expect getting a whole face-lifting around my 60's.. LOL!

Hello Monda Jaan....

by 13th Legion on

I admire your personal view on this subject because I think it’s a good sign that deep inside you are very confident and comfortable with whom you are!

At the same time I find this to be a very interesting complex topic, food for thought!

As you mentioned, I think the main reasons for the popularity of cosmetic surgery in our day and age is:

and the fact those now days our society prefers the “fast food philosophy” wanting to get something great in the quickest way possible and with minimal effort: Instant gratification!

I recently saw an old movie from the mid 1980sstaring Mickey Roark “Wild Orchid” Mickey was my Idol and super Ego in those days, all the guys wanted to be Mickey Roark, the movie brought back many memories and it made me go back to my picture albums to revisit my full set of “Elvis” like hair at the time and with no doubt felt a bit emotional and sad but I also goggled Mickey Roark and went through many of his photos from all years, as you may know he is among many movie starts that went through cosmetic surgery and altered the way they look only to have it back fire later on and as much as I admire him, he is a good example of how cosmetic surgery can have negative results on ones appearance on the long run, the man now has a very unnatural look that resembles nothing like the original God giving features he had!

At the end I truly believe that it all boils down to “Parvaresh Fekhr” the way we think, the more confident we are about who we are deep down and from the inside the less we will worry about what people thinks about us and how they perceive us, I also see great value in keeping reasonably attractive and personally content and proud of our appearance by taking those yoga classes, eating well and keeping positive thoughts and company.

Thank for mentioning the yoga classes, that’s something I should be doing more often, along with drinking more water and working on trimming the fat  ;))

Dear Monda, first of all, you are beautiful

by Anahid Hojjati on

Monda jan, you are beautiful to begin with. Also, I have to say that it is sad when women (nowadays men too) after certain age, put so much emphasis on their looks. If you add up number of hours that some women (and many men) spend on making themselves beautiful (handsome), it is shameful since that means that some talents are never going to get "shokofa" because of all this emphasis on looks. Another problem is that no matter how much women and men work to make themselves more good looking and fit, there are still laws of nature.

All this said,  I am not saying that I will never do plastic surgery :), I just don't want to over emphasize it.

Beauty

by Jahanshah Javid on

First of all, you're beautiful. Don't change a thing!

Beauty is a magnet. Ugly is not. That's just the way it is. Very few people look that deep to see if there's any inner beauty as well.

I don't have a problem with my hook nose. But I have two siblings who've done nose jobs. Good for them. Whatever makes you happy.

People want to look and stay beautiful. If I could snap my fingers and lose all the fat I'd do it.

LOL, very legit questions.

by vildemose on

LOL, very legit questions. We as a society put a high premium on beauty even if it's fake. utterly primal, indeed...
