Reza Pahlavi's Letter to Barack Obama
by Darius Kadivar

The Former Crown Prince of Iran congratulates President Elect Barack Obama for his election. Here is the content of the letter.

I am not the Official Spokesman of Reza Pahlavi nor belong to any political group or organization but am submitting this letter for general info and leave the pertinence or not of this letter and its interpretation to the sagacity and personal judgment of the readers.

From Reza Pahlavi's Official Website

Letter The Honorable Barack Obama
President-Elect of the United States of America
Washington, DC

November 5th, 2008
Dear Mr. President-elect,

It is with a great pleasure that I offer you my heartfelt congratulations on your historic election victory.

This is indeed a proud moment not just for America, but for millions of others around the globe who have come to believe in and aspire for the kind of values that have become universally acknowledged as the hallmarks of American society. Your success is a remarkable reminder of the potential for promoting major change through the ballot box in a free and fair electoral process.

Mr. President-Elect,

The prospect for change as promised by you has already aroused a great deal of expectation from people everywhere who are hopeful of emulating your example by constructing societies based on peace, freedom, justice and opportunity.

No where is the desire for such change greater than in my homeland, Iran.

The people of Iran are perhaps amongst the most eager aspirants for the kind of values that have become synonymous with your success in the recent months. Iranians believe ‘that if allowed the opportunity, yes they will’.

It is their hope that with your moral and vocal support, they too can pursue their struggle for the realization of their individual liberties and fundamental freedoms along with the restoration of their pride and dignity as human beings.

Wishing you ever increasing success in all your future endeavors,

Yours sincerely,

Reza Pahlavi

Re: Napoleon azizam they aren't visible to YOU but they exist!

by Napolean (not verified) on

Are they visible to YOU? Enlighten me, mention ONE, only ONE, not two, not three, but only ONE.

You unconsciously proved my point, that RP is the only visible force, or else you could mention ONE out of 70 millions WITH a clean record and recognized.

Yeah, we have a lot of sacrificing young men and women in iran who oppose the government, but they are all either in Evin and like, or resting in Beheshte-zahra and like! Mullas are not softies like shah was; they learned from shah's downfall and do not risk letting anyone get away.

The difference between you and me is that you want to wait for the Messiah that may never arrive and till then be emotionally exclusive and let 70 million suffer. I want results and see my country free before I die (I am not old though, but time passes fast and mullas live long), and want anyone who can help my dream come true to be in the camp (except for those with dark past: islamists and leftists).

Viva Iran!

Napoleon azizam they aren't visible to YOU but they exist!

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

They may not be spear heading campaigns right now, but that's because the time for revolution is gone in Iran. People want peace and freedom. Revolution doesn't guarantee that. They are working, studying and learning. They are the future and they live in Iran mostly, and I think that just claiming a "celebrity" is the best chance spits on those great minds.

Show me one accomplishment by him for the people Iran?

by observer (not verified) on

He's been an errand boy for the right wing republicans and Israeli lobby in Washington. Iranians are not impressed by his family's riches. Why? Because he did not earn it they stole it when they ran away from Iran. Iranians are not amused by his politics either. He's been a mouthpiece on FOX TV advocating regime change in Iran meaning attacking Iran. An errand boy for the likes of Richard Pearl who gave us Iraq War.

Miss Souri pay more attention. He has the delusion of representing Iranian people through his letter. To many Iranians he is just a rich boy whose father used to be the deposed Shah of Iran. And that's pretty much it.

Safa Ali

Why do you guys hate him so much?

by Safa Ali on

Why do u guys hate him so much? He hasn't done anything bad for Iran, the only thing he's done is speak for human rights issues regarding a country that he was raised to care for.

And can somebody please state some legitimate proof of the accusations that his father "stole" money from iran?

Souri

All these noise just for a letter ? Baba jan, He liked to send a letter for the president of the USA, he just did it. who care?

What's wrong with you guys ? Move on please.

Obviously your expertise is in empty negative animosity slogans, an expertise that 98% of iranians of 1979 were good at, and we saw the result of it.

You are still not offering a single person who is more qualified than the unqualified RP. Oppositions are likes of ranjavis, bani-sadrs, and ganjis (ex-intelligence officer of IRI).

Reza even sucks at letter writing

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

If he has been paying attention to Iran at all, he would know that the people in Iran are SKEPTICAL of Obama. Yes, he's change for America, but probably not for the US Iranian relationship. Not until his second term, at least!

Reza, you are a failure, like your dad, except at having kids. Congratulations on that.

you guys who keep going on and on about shah. it's not sad. it's sad that we are stuck on him, and that his son won't have some dignity and shut up! We have to evolve and this Pahlavi represents devolution.

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

Reza Pahlavi is a name, a legend and nothing else. Oh he's also a JOKE in the Washington community. I don't think you've ever seen him give a speech or try to convey a point. I feel sorry for anyone who he is in charge of managing. God help us if we ever had him installed! Thank god for my American citizenship.

Sad

by Kaveh Nouraee on

I agree when you say the Shah knew what was in store, but I can't agree with the rest.

I get a very strong feeling he isn't laughing. Supposedly his lymphoma was diagnosed several years prior to his departure. Something tells me that despite being sick, with a type of cancer that's one of the worst as far as cancers go mind you, he had a focus and a goal for Iran that gave him the strength to fight his disease with just sheer willpower.

When Iran was lost, I think maybe he just lost the will to live.

We don't need this freeloader to help Iran

by Observer (not verified) on

First they have to return the money they stole from Iranians. Then the ones who were over 18 years old will be put on trial for suppressing and looting Iranian nation. They can ask for forgiveness. Iranian nation will decide to forgive this corrupted freeloader or not.

Given the miserable state of affairs, I think it's the Shah that has the last laugh.

He betrayed his country by leaving it to vultures. He knew exactly what was in store for Iranians and he didn't do a damn thing. He was a vindictive bastard.

For years I fantasized about

by desi on

For years I fantasized about the return of the monarchy.  I'll admit it...my family had a great life under the shah.  Enghelab tore us up and divided us all over the world.  I'm not lamenting the financial loss, who cares.  It's the inability  to see family members ever again.  I've always thought that Iran faired better under kingships.  After all it's all we've ever known for a few thousand years.  Now I know that the return of the crown prince will never happen.  Sitting around and hoping for this is completely useless now.  Let's just hope that by some small miracle all of the Akhounds and the religious nut jobs spontaneously combust and the Iranian people will choose a SECULAR democracy that makes sense for them.  I also believe that none of us here por harfing will ever be a part of that change.  We're all just a bunch of koon goshad armchair revolutionaries.   Me being the biggest of koon goshads.

Do you know why we hear from HIM, the RP? Because as sad as it is "WE HAVE NOBODY ELSE!"

It is very sad, but very true: those who claimed intellect and ownership of iran and sympathy for iranians: islamists, leftists, and intellectuals alike, ALL turned up being crooks and criminals the second that they got the chance to replace shah, far worse than the shah ever was. They could not even tolerate seeing Persian Gulf called Persian, Norooz celebrated, Chaharshanbehsoori endeared, or the age-old iranian flag-lion survive. They opposed ANYTHING iranian.

And now you want to shut up the only voice (yes with no positive record, but also with no negative record) simply because he was the son of shah, when there is nobody else; just like when we wanted to get rid of the shah AND we did not have anyone more decent to replace him, but a bunch of thugs. He is an iranian citizen so let's afford him the right to speak, but I wish he could be a bit more like his grand father - mullas need an iron fist to pay them back for their atrocities and 30 years of treason. Soft-balls won't do.

Yes, he does not have a job; but what job do likes of khatami, rafsanjani, khamenei, or the other 200,000 mullas feeding on iranian oil revenues have? Oh, I forgot, their job is robbery and murder! At least he is in the company of some 25% of iranians within who also do not have a stable job!

I am all for a better choice, but we once got rid of our shirt in the middle of winter "before" we found a better warmer shirt and before we pondered if the promised shirt would fit and is any newer or better (it turned out not to be a new shirt at all but rather a recycled "kafiyeh" [ammameh] from 1400 years ago from the deserts of arabistan, recycled and re-sold to naive iranians as new!). Emotions destroyed us once!

Kaveh N.: thank you buddy, same here.

Love my Land, Iran!

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

Who is he speaking for? He has not kingdom, and as for followers, sure, every nutbag has someone following them. I'm not jealous, but I wouldn't mind having his job. Seriously. Him and prince charles jobs = waiting around wait for mom to die, wait to be the king wait wait wait and talk talk talk. He lives and eats well, doesn't vote, and this picture here, comparing the two is ridiculous. Reza can write all the letters he wants, but he's still a joke.

Oh btw, nothing wrong with a letter. I write letters every day. Emails and petitions bla bla. But to post it thinking that he has some kind of say over any of us here is RIDICULOUS.

He doesn't vote, he isn't american, but he dreams about rubbing shoulders with American presidents and statesmen. GET A LIFE REZA. Write some memoirs. It'll be more interesting.

White passpot : copy/paste are good, but should be used wisely

by Souri on

I know this link helped you a lot to get the info (dima66a):

//boards.immigration.com/archive/index.php/t-...

but you need to do more researches about the fact you learn only on the web.

Let this pretentious, dishonest person, just teach you a little thing, if you don't mind:

White passport, has all those benefits you just copied here, but has its restriction too upon what, it can't fit our dear RP's traveling purpose.

Final point : The main subject of this blog, was not RP's sexual orientation or traveling burdens. If I just asked that question, it was for giving an example of the evidence that he MUST have at least one actual country's citizenship.

Jaleho

Who cares? Not Obama for sure!

by Jaleho on

My dog also wrote a letter to Obama congratualing him. Obama still has not acknowleged receiving my dog's, I don't think he'd acknowledge receiving Reza Pahlavi's either.

I mean, the guy is a NOBODY! He's just the son of a former dictator which has been kicked out disgracefully by his own people, and now the son misses his former life and is  suffering delusions of power.

When Iran-Iraq war broke, Reza Pahlavi stated that he really would like to defend "his country," and Khomeini told him that he'd better go and play football since he doesn't know anything about Iran or sacrifice. Reza listened like a good boy.

Now he's better spend his time playing computer games which is more becoming to him rather than making foozoolyeh ziyadi.

comment here. It's not about getting attention or not getting attention. It's about revealing the fact that he is too weak, too coward, too engaged in his own day to day activities to be a spokeman for the Iranian nation. His time is spent on his millions of dollars his father and mother stole from Iranian nation when they scaped from Iran. He is in no postion to be of any help to Iranian nation and Iranian peoples' troubles.

To Madam Souri: White Passport

by Ironic (not verified) on

I am not interested in having anything to do with you either since YOU seem PRETENTIOUS and definitely NOT HONEST!

It's called "WHITE PASSPORT"!

you need to get a re-entry permit. It serves several purposes including one that it can be used as a passport. It looks like passport ( and sometimes called "white passport" despite it is bluesh-green or greenish-blue). To get it, you need to file I-131. There are several countries in the world that don't recognize it as passport, in particular, Russia, and may be a few more. You have to check on the embassy web site for each country you are going to. For example, when you look on the Netherland's embassy web site how to get a shcengen visa, there are requirements for different kinds of visitors such as US citizens, US permanent residents traveling with the passport issued by another country, US perm residents traveling with re-entry permit, etc. END OF COMMUNICATION

Okay he does not know iranians and is out of touch with iranians as you all know-it-alls claim. then, You tell him what to do, you who claim that you have all the answers and he does not, tell him and us what to do.

Better yet, you know what to do?, you go and do it instead of criticizing him. He at least wrote a letter. What did you do for your country besides criticizing him.

You know what to do better than him? Okay fine, then you go and do what you think should be done to get rid of 30 years of oppression and backwardness. Or do you propose that we wait for another 30 years because you just don't like the guy, maybe god will finally decide to help up out?

Grow up and stop nagging like a child when someone else has the attention and you don't! That attitude has harmed us a great deal, starting in 1979 that you wanted the shah out no matter what. Then you became either the oppressors or ran away.

Reza Pahlavi, what a nerve, what a nerd..

by Observer (not verified) on

He says in his message to Obama:

"It is their (Iranians) hope that with your (Obama's white house) moral and vocal support, they too can pursue their struggle for the realization of their individual liberties and fundamental freedoms along with the restoration of their pride and dignity as human beings".

Our response to you is: "Well the Iranian nation would like to inform Reza Pahlavi that they don't need their "pride and dignity" to be restored. Do you know why? Because they have never lost it. They didn't lose it during your father's or your grandfather's (stable boy turned dictator) reign of terror either.

Iranians do not need you as their advocate, because you are too weak and too involved with your own little petty projects to be of any real help to them.

Are you joking? Comparing Obama and Pahlavoodoo?

by I Have a Crush on Alex Trebek on

Pahlavi barely knows the alphabet or anything about modern politics. His speeches are worse than John Kerry's!!! Obama is not just intelligent, he is driven and ambitious. Reza has NONE of those traits. There are so many iranians who do, and who are more fit to "unify" Iran. Reza belongs in the Washington hotel conference rooms with his dad's old guard. If Reza had an ounce of smarts or guts, he wouldn't be hiding behind western teevee and politics. He stinks more than feta paneer from Pakistan.

Also that picture below is not accurate. Also, he's so undignified about having a male heir that he had his 4th KID!!! like 2 or 3 years ago. Enough is enough. This guy is an embarrassment.
