look beyond khamenei

by gitdoun ver.2.0 on

forget about khamenei and his tears. Just look at the thousands of people STILL WORSHIPPING him during the Aushora ceremony. If evvveryone in Iran hated this man the masjid he would attend would be empty ! Iranians would AVOID going anywhere near this man. But no you still see a segment of the population flocking towards him and holding him in reverence; infact they are in awe to be in his very presence!  khamenei is Islam for these people. There is no difference between Kaaba and Khamenei in their eyes. Don't look for this regime to fall any time next year or the year after that. If it goes down these cultist followers of khamenei will spill blood knee high before they see "God's Government'' replaced by Democracy.

Seyyed Ali is definitely not crying for the Iranians who are being tortured, raped and killed on Iranian soil NOW.  Instead, he is pretending to be crying for foreigners who were murdered centuries ago in a foreign land.  Iranians should send these folks to where their loved ones are, in a foreign land.

you write essays about how sound monarchy is. IRANIANS REJECTED IT. Get over it. Stop blaming Carter. Try to evolve. If you really think that Iranians are hoping for a moftkhor figure like the Queen of England, you are really lost.... in the case of chubby Reza it's porkhor.

Lastly a Constitutional

by benross on

Lastly a Constitutional King or Queen is Not a Rahbar but simply the figurehead of a nation.

I can assure you Darius, if RP doesn't have a decisive role in bringing about that free Iran in which he and royal family can safely walk in, he won't have any role afterward. RP has to claim his kingdom, then give it back to the people to decide what they want to do with it. Call it Rahbar or Figuerhead, any role other than that is irrelevant.

Your 'solidarnost' sucks dear Darius. It has no connection whatsoever with our collective memory and understanding as Iranians. It can't get the message through and it's inefficient. You should have realized it by now.

Darius Kadivar

Payam Jaan Simply because he is NOT a Rahbar ...;0)

by Darius Kadivar on

A Rahbar like Khamenei supports one faction against another. He represent a Political standpoint. A King or Queen has to maintain himself or herself Above Political Melee and does not interfere in the political process or decision makings. He or she is simply a Figurehead Not a Ruler !

You don't believe me ? Then ask the Queen of England , King Juan Carlos of Spain or King Albert II of Belgium ...

That does not mean that they do not have a Political role. They do Only it is not an Executive one. In otherwords they simply have to live up to the expectations of their role but also evolve within the rights they are entitled too by the country's constitution. He cannot dictate their job to the elected government or elected Parliment.

To begin with it is far too early to say that the people of Iran do not want to restore the Monarchy in it's Constitutional Form instead of lets say a Secular Republic.

Mainly because the real profound debate has not even started nor is the country's situation serene enough to debate on this crucial question.

Shapour Bakhtiar's speech for the anniversary of the Constitutional Revolution:

//www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8k6arXHado

That debate will be inevitable at some point for you cannot deny history or pretend that it does not shape our lives and choices as a nation.

The legacy of the Revolution and it's Republic (whether or not it highjacked the people's genuine choice or not ) is so Terrible that the comparison between the accomplishments of the two regimes will appear in the minds and conversations of the people in the future including by those in the political arena aspiring Presidential candidates or Aspiring Prime Minister Candidates.

In my opinion there Can be NO Nation Building by denying the past or overlooking it. Again NO Politician can escape the challenge of the debate for people will be demanding checks and balances for the failure of the Revolution.

A Restoration is nothing new or original in the history of mankind. It has taken place in other countries where the Royal institutions were even less justified or even ancient than in IRan.

Lastly a Constitutional King or Queen is Not a Rahbar but simply the figurehead of a nation.

He cannot impose on the nation his tastes, won't be able to solve your metaphysical interrogations on life and death like a Velyateh Fagih nor can he impose his political preferences on the nation.

For instance I do not see how we can reach a national reconciliation by rejecting the right of the Royal Family to come back. Their Return will also trigger debate within society and the political establishment and parlimentarians. Not allowing them to come back will also trigger debate one way or another because we Royalists won't remain silent.

That is why Only the people at large can ultimately come to terms with the question of it's Royal heritage and on whether or not they want to maintain it as a symbol of national unity and sovereignty as is the case in such countries like Sweden, Norway or the UK.

The Conquest of Power for one form of regime or another will be a Political one.

But again it is far too early to draw a definitive conclusion on what is the real demand of the people of Iran when everyone is hot headed and in a revolutionary state of mind.

Once the Euphorea is over people will realize that the nation's problems won't be solved overnight even with the establishment of a democratic system of government.

In Countries where the monarchy was restored, the Royal Family has been able to play a constructive role in the nation's life. It may be insignificant to some but it greatly matters on a collective level and in the national psyche.

A Constitution whether it is fpr a Republic or a Constitutional Monarchy is first and foremost a Moral Contract between the People and the governing body.

It is often drafted after a major change in the political history of a nation. That modern and democratic Constitution does not exist with the current regime. We already have one which is the 1906 Constitution which can allow to put things in order and it also defines a clear separation of powers as well as the role of the King or Queen. I do not see how given the major changes in our country and the public awareness and particularly political awareness as to what they want for themselves that a Constitutional King or Queen could ever behave itself as the former two Pahlavi Kings or the Kings of the former Dynasties before them.

RP won't stand a chance if he were to step on the Constitution as his father or grandfather before him did.

He will be in the same situation of lets say Charles II after Cromwell's Fall. He had to abide to a the Constitution in order to avoid another Civil War and that was the starting point of the Democratic and Parlimentary System of Government which has prevailed in Great Britian Since. The King or Queen Reigns but Does Not Rule ...

Now One can think it is absurd or stupid to restore a King or Queen only because of that person's name or heritage because you believe in a Republican Form of Government for philisophical reasons.

But politics is about compromise and ruling is easier said than done ...

The question of Restoration arises often in countries where the Revolutionary experience and the Republican rule failed to deliver what it promised initially.

It has not always succeeded but when it did it never led to a dictatorship but merely a Parlimentary Democracy. Belgium, Spain, Sweden or the UK are the countries where it succeeded this transition perfectly. On the otherhand countries like Greece, or Bulgaria failed to restore the monarchy but they both allowed their Royal Family to Return as Citizens or active politicians.

What will be the destiny of the Pahlavi family and Crown Prince Reza's Future in this context ? I don't Know. But to deny the fact that people will inevitably ask themselves that question would be in my opinion impertinent.

After all even Ayatollah Montazery ended up by admitting that many Monarchies today are Democracies where as many Republics have turned into Totalitarian or dictatorial States.

So I suppose in the end of the day it will all depend on the people's knowledge and reaction towards their own history as well as our collective choice given that we won't be able to escape the philisophical and political implications ( Good or Bad) when it comes to making that ultimate choice.

My Humble Opinion,

DK

PS: Lastly I have decided Not to argue on My Personal Choice or Preference from now on. You All know My Personal Choice by now so I don't need to explain what I have been explaining to everyone through my blogs or articles for the past 10 years. If people have questions they can find their answers by looking through them. I don't want to waste my energy arguing endlessly trying to convince their stubborn and shortsighted mindsets. They and You are free to think otherwise but I have no reason to justify my Choice which was made 30 years ago :

NO TO THE REPUBLIC

YES TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY
