Poetic Jazz

An Interview with Rana Farhan

by Nazy Kaviani
From that 2008 moment when I first heard a Rana Farhan song, I have been her devoted fan.  Rana’s music masterfully fuses two things near and dear to my heart, Persian poetry and jazz and blues.  She could do no wrong with me!  So, on the threshold of their San Francisco concert at Yoshi’s on Sunday, October 2, it was a pleasure waiting for her and her musical partner and producer, Steven Toub on Chestnut Street in San Francisco’s Marina District on a beautiful sunny afternoon.  Here's my interview with Rana Farhan about her unique music.  Catch Rana at Yoshi's, San Francisco, this coming Sunday, October 2. See event page on Facebook. Rana's website: RanaFarhan.com

The show was fantastic!

And she was so cool, and the people loved her.  The band was excellent.  I had a great time, just great.  I hope she comes back soon.

I don't think I have seen her in a concert yet.

I may have seen her, perhaps opening for Darius or some other older singer, but I'm not sure!

I have read good reviews about her so I hope to see her when she comes to our neck of the woods.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I went to see Rana Farhan perform live in San Francisco tonight. What a great night it was, and what a fantastic artist she is! This woman sure can sing! She and her band cast a spell on all of us! If you haven't already, look her up and listen to her music. You will know what I mean!

I like her style.  The fusion of Persian poetry with Jazz and blues is great.  Her sold-out shows is a testimony to her talent and popularity.

I'll be there to enjoy her performance.

She is absolutely amazing. I met her at Cafe Vivaldi a couple of weeks ago. She has a heavenly voice. deep and impressive.
