Ghorbooneh Damagheshun!

by Nur-i-Azal on

With very few exceptions, Iranian women generally do not require plastic surgery and nose jobs. They are naturally beautiful goddesses, yet the popular culture forces them to try to look more Anglo. They don't need to do this. Take it from this man, be as you are and don't change a thing! You are better when you are your natural looking selves than when you change it a couple  of thousand dollars of plastic surgery later!

That said, the contemporary hippie style for women is a turn on for me. Just once I want to see one of these  Iranian goddess models dressed up in fashionable contemporary hippie attire with long dreadlocked hair, wearing paisley, multicolors, birkenstocks, maybe even donning a nose ring, etc., you know the style ;-)

The Nose Controversy Continues

by fast-getaway on

Gavazn, yes, I do see plenty of women in LA more beautiful than Yasmeen, but that's the way it is with the perception of beauty. It's all very subjective. I'm not putting down non-Iranian beauty. Just stating my own preference. That's what blogs are all about, sharing our diverse perspectives.

But your comments appear to reflect a definite bias toward non-Iranian facial features. That's fine because we all have our preferences, but are you saying that women with small, modified noses are more likely to look down at me? If you believe that, you must then believe the converse to be true as well, thath a woman with her unmodified, Iranian nose would feel inferior.

Why does the term "Westernized" offend you? I'm missing something there, because I have a hard time understanding how the word can offend. Aren't you being a bit of a hot house flower? For the record, I was referring to "westernized" in relation to "the middle east", or the far east, as compared to my own geographical position, California. It seems so many Italian women, Iranian women and Israeli women are ready to go under the knife to alter their faces to have a nose like Kirsten Dunst.

For my taste, Cindy Crawford is not plan to me, but she's not gorgeous. Salma Hayek, Sophia Loren, shohreh Solati, and yes the  natural-nose as well as the modified nose Persian beauties of Los Angeleswho look down on us all.. those are the gorgeous women I think about when I've had half a bottle of Mad Dog 50/50, sitting naked in my trailer eating cold pizza, watching a film by Majid Majidi, with the sound turned all the way down and Hank Williams playing too loud on my stereo. Cuz I'm a shiite hillbilly redneck lover of guns and Hank Williams and the music of Hayedeh.

Whatever the case may be, Gavazn, I enjoyed your post very much. Variety is the spice of life. Yeeee hawwwwww. Yippie Kay-eh and kheili mamnoonam.

I hear you John

by benross on

But we can't help it can we?

I don't think the issue is much about looking the beauty in a woman. Because it's simply there. The issue is a cultural thing, being 'conditioned' to look for it in a specific way... this often leads us to miss the beauty altogether, at our own lost.

True Obama

by John on

Your points are well-taken Obama, and I agree that the habit of placing people such as models and actresses on a pedestal to be viewed as paragons of beauty is misplaced, because most of them have average looks at best when they are unadorned by makeup, expensive clothes and wigs.

For me the issue is the injustice of the typical male objectification of women and the far too prevalent habit of nit-picking about a woman's nose shape, or breast size or whatever, when most men are nothing to write home about, either in appearance or behaviour (me included).

benross

This is half true

by benross on

Modeling and Model photography is selling an illusion. It is meant to be unrecognizable in real life. But some people are photogenic and some are not. That makes the difference between a model and another pretty woman. It's all about 'pose' and communicating with the camera. It's not only make-up.

As a note in history, with much more sexual undertone, Betty Page comes in mind who is an icon when we talk about modeling and specially pin-up photography, which has not much to do with cloth presentation but more so the lack of it. But before anything else, it is about the 'pose'.

obama

john, why are you surprised we make the standards?we're D buyers

by obama on

and naturally we would set the standards for women as women make the standards for men. Be fair, look at the cover photo, and tell me do you see anything but make up? I used to be a photographer and I tell you, if you see her in person, you would not recognize her. She has nothing beautiful! Many gorgeous iranian women don't even want to be photographed, let alon models.

John you sound wonderful

by AsteroidX on

I agree with you absolutely.

Discussion

by John on

I'm not referring to you, AsteroidX, nor to anyone else in particular.  It's just that women are held to a very high standard by society, and these standards are usually defined by men, who IMHO usually don't make 1% of the effort on their appearances that most women make on theirs.

AsteroidX

This is a discussion board

by AsteroidX on

Let me clarify I was not criticizing the model in question or recommending my ideal beauty as being Yasmin Parvaneh. I commented because someone was discussing the physical requirements to be a good model. When nose and height were mentioned, I knew of an Iranian model who is a Supermodel which meets international standards of height, jawline, nose , flat face, adaptability, etc.  To be honest my ideal female beauty type is Jerry Hall in her heyday, Charlise Theron, Monica Bellucci. Not especially looking for Iranian features, I'm with Gavazn on this one. But I see no reason why people can not talk objectively and give their honest opinion without fearing “consequences”. After all that is what a discussion board is about.

John

Double standard

by John on

I think that it would be interesting if some of the men who post here criticisizing the looks of Iranian women would do us the pleasure of posting photographs of themselves so that we can see how close to perfection they are themselves.

Personally speaking, I'm a man with a bit of a belly, sagging flesh here and there, not as much hair as I used to have, etc, and I wouldn't dare to criticize anything about my azizam for two reasons: 1) she's gorgeous from top to bottom, inside and out, whether or not she has a model's looks, and 2) because I'm far from perfect myself.

I dont like big noses on women :O(

by Gavazn on

Cindy Crawford is absolutely gorgeous, what are you talking about? Why do people insist everything Iranian has to be the best ?  Sorry but this lady is cute but plain. And the photos look really touched up.

Are you seriously saying you see more beautiful Iranian women in the street than this? Or is it because you do not want a woman who looks down on you , or seems too good to be true? Why do we have to put down non-Iranian beauty? The term 'westerised' really offends me.

Go ahead and kill me for being honest.

HHH

Just an Average Beautiful Persian Girl

by HHH on

We Iranians are used to seeing beautiful girls because, nose-aside, most Iranian girls are beautiful.

It's like one day an American trying to insult me said "You Iranians are suicide bombers, you kill yourself to get 72 virgins."

I told him "Actually unlike in America most girls in Iran are virgins, so Iranians don't have to commit suicide to have access to 72 virgins, we already have millions while alive."!

Here they consider Cindy Crawford top supermodel and gorgeous. By Iranian standards she's "eyyyyyy, hamchin."

fast-getaway

She looks rather plain to me

by fast-getaway on

I dunno guys -  Yasmeen looks very "westernized" to me with her very small nose. Also, she looks so "sweet and innoocent", while I prefer more exotic and dangerous/naughty.

I see Persian women who are better looking that Yasmeen every day in California. So I have to respectfully disagree with fussygorilla... I prefer an Iranian girl who looks like an Iranian girl, exotic eyes and exotic nose too. And it's not just the young Iranian women who are beautiful. You see lots of very sexy Iranian babes well beyond their 20s and 30s. Iranian MILFs and cougars are the best. I'd say Iranian women don't hit the wall until after 60 at least and remain bed-worthy much longer than women from other countries.

As for Yaboo's ramblings about Iranian skin, "this tokhme sag", etc... that was all pretty hard to follow.Be honest bro. You were pretty high when you wrote that post weren't you? I've posted while intoxicated too, and sometimes I don't remember I posted until much later, so I'm not judging you, but you know, I'm just saying... That was pretty weak.

AsteroidX

Yasmin Parvaneh

by AsteroidX on

Here's another Persian beauty - supermodel YASMIN LE BON. She is tall as she has mixed heritage, that's why she made it big internationally on the catwalk. Not the average midget.

fussygorilla

Nose?

by fussygorilla on

Where did I "pretend" to be or not to be an "Iranian"? What difference would that make anyhow.

My comment on the nose was not directed at the photo here but in general and,  As to nose job in Iran, there have been plenty of reports and data about the fact of nose surgery being among the highest in the world. Most Iranians' noses do need fixing up and apparently many plastic surgeon are quite wealthy thanks to their field of medicine. In fact, there have been reports that nose surgery has become a social prestige item so that some young women put a phoney bandaid on their noses to pretend they had it done!

Why are you so defensive about this anyway? may be inferiority complex?

yahoo_yabo

pic 12 is best- skin and jaw real determinants of real beauty

by yahoo_yabo on

she is being herself, no show no act.

I agree that persian women are attractive, however, the very pretty and model looking ones come in "small packages" they are very "Zareef".  Thst tends to remove them from chances of competiting with super models who are usually 5'8" and taller.

Also super models have conseiderd "leggy' which is only seen in tall slender women.

Super Ghetto Models, the likes of this tokhme sag (obert Kardasian, Khoda Azabesh bede) Kim Kardashian have features that are very close to those presented by Persian women.  However, because of their big behinds they gain popularity in primarily Ghetto driven United States.

The only feature that Persian women come usually short in is the tone of the skin.  I am not talking about wrinkles or pimples, rather the tone.  Most Persians have this skin which is more suseptible to wrinkle, ie excess skin.  Models like Naomi Campbell and Cindy have this "streched out" skin that along with a tapering of the jaw that usually defines real beauty.

In my opinion, everything can be changed and recruiters know that except two things that really define beauty: jaw angle and "streched out" skin.  Those you will find in Iran but you will have to look hard and usually in the Kavir areas.  Most Iranian women in Iran look like Kate Winslet and Drew Barrymore skin and jaw - wise speaking.
