A Fusion of The Hearts

Introducing Parisa Vaaleh

Last Saturday, I had a chance to drop in on a rehearsal session where vocalist Parisa Vaaleh and the Kamran Thunder Ensemble were preparing for a Sunday, April 8 concert in Berkeley. You know, it is a true privilege to live in a community of writers, artists, and thinkers in the San Francisco Bay Area. But it is an absolute blessing to have so many doors opened to me, where I can step into a world of sounds, sights, words, and thoughts of those people. The rehearsal was in full swing with Kamran Thunder on setar, ney, and keyboard, Ali Bazyar on percussions, Michael Shiono on Bass Guitar, Lewis Patzner on the cello, and Matthew Heulitt on guitar. With her absolutely amazing voice, vocalist Parisa Vaaleh, has been hard at work to take her performance to stage. I sat down with her later to talk about her music, what she has done before and what she wants to do now. Don't miss Parisa Vaaleh and the Kamran Thunder Ensemble Live in Berkeley, Sunday, April 8, 2012, at 8:00 p.m., Freight & Salvage, 2020 Addison Street, Berkeley, CA 94704, (510) 644-2020 / info@freightandsalvage.org

Bautiful Voice

by Imam-e Zaman on

She has a beautiful voice. I particularly liked Dast-e Eshgh, which proves that a good voice is not enough, you also need good lyrics and nice music as well. The poems are by Fereydoon Moshiri, which is why this is such a great song. I have hardly heard a comparable song by female vocalist for such a long time. I hope we hear more from her soon with more beautiful songs.

I feel the songs are not suitable to her voice and I don't consider her work fusion, at least all of the songs I saw on youtube. I consider her another traditional singer of Iranian folk music but with very sad voice. of course, this is my opinion!
