No worries; these racist posts are paid for

by Proud and Peaceful Iranian (not verified) on

Sad to see posts full of hatred on this website, a website that is trying to bring us of allreligions together. Combine it with bad facts or lies, I wonder if these hateful posters are being paid by another organization. Keep pushing the propaganda to launch a war in Iran. It won't work. We all want changes but as peacefully as possible. Not all muslims hate, and as demonstrated by your posts, not all anti-muslims are peaceful or open-minded.

One more thing for you Kamangir - regarding your comment about hijab and Iranians "embarassing" themselves ... with freedom of religion in this great country, the US, what's it to you? They wanna dress the way they wanna dress, and who cares what their reasoning is. Isn't that what you and many of us really want in Iran - FREEDOM. So put away your insecurity. I know, everyday just wear a shirt that says "I am a pure non-muslim Iranian. Neither my wife, daughter or any other females in my family (going back 1000s of years) wear anything to cover their hair or face." Maybe wearing that will make you feel more comfortable or confident when walking around the muslim Iranians. Good luck, boy.

You da man, Kamangir! Such a man that you resort to pure, and I mean PURE, name calling. I am confident and proud to call myself a muslim. And I certainly do fuckin drink my beers and at times eat pork. And yes, this can be referred to as a moderate muslim, or simply a muslim. Your so-called logic certainly can't be applied to jews (many marry non-jews, some, similar to us, eat pork at times, etc), or Catholics (many, similar to others, certainly divorce their wives/husbands). There are all kinds of extremists - muslims, jews or christians. While I am certainly not condoning ANYTHING that the current regime in Iran has done, don't you think that religion is gaining a stronghold right here in the US? I'm sure you're aware of the political power that the Christian Right has. Of course AIPAC and other jewish groups have been guiding our politicians for a while. So, extremists of most major religions continue to try and gain more power, no matter which country or continent you're talking about. And I guess you can be considered an extremist too. Extreme in the sense that you literally hate. What is up with this ramadan, hijab, etc name calling? So what if muslims do that? Yes, the mullas should not have any power in Iran. All the turban boys should just stay in their mosques, just like the priests and rabbis should stay in their churches and temples. There must be freedom of religion, frredom of speech and equality in Iran, and I will do my best to make that happen. Yes, a democracy is certainly not a theocracy as the current regime in Iran is. But will such hatred that's coming out of you even help that situation???? At least try to be political about this! And you call yourself intelligent, good, nice and giving just because you're not a muslim??? Just because you're a non-muslim Iranian???? Hillarious. Again, you appear to be an insecure boy. FYI, I'm in California. Would love to meet you and see that hatred in your eyes, so I can smile and introduce myself as an Iranian. Boy, I'd certainly drink a couple of beers for that!

Listen IranianmIrooni

Vey few people nowadays actually like muslims, so get over it. I'm only against Islam, all other religions are respectable. I blame Islam for what has happened to my country, Iran. For their stonings, public executions, sighe, virginity flights to Dubai, for their backward and stone age crap. For their 'amre be amroof' and many other bullshit they practice......

I guess you're one of those, whose mom gets him a virgin aftab nandide wife,  'of course'. Just make sure she wasn't stiched up somewhere in Tehran, there're many doctors maknig good money replacing virginity (hey! Islam says is mandatory, not me), so be careful on that one...I guess your sisters and mom and wife are the ones with 'hijab' you see around in the west, the ones that embarass themselves and all other normal Iranians, that you don't drink alcohol, don't eat pork and your wish is to go to meca, and do the 'haj'.  That you fast in ramadan or ramazan. Just in case this isn't you, then you're NOT a real muslim, just like the vast majority of Iranians, and in case you are not a real muslim, leave the defence of Islam to the real ones. And in case you're a real muslim, then, good luck!

Cheers

Can a photo essay be any more boring than this one?  I had to click 64 times before the first shot of the stage.

Please. Use a little discretion when posting photos.  Shot after shot of two people posing, bored attendants of a booth, signs for restautants, etc. is not that interesting.

Are you trying to show us something interesting or prove that this event actually happened?

Charity work is a diversion from political opposition

by changiz khan. (not verified) on

It is so sad to see that a group of so called charitable people try to fool others by showing that they work for a charitable cause and at the same time hide their contacts with the IRI's authorities. But there are always footprints of Islamic authorities everywhere. The Mahak organization shows nothing and no one on their website as to who are their sponsors - the site is permanently under construction. But among their foreign sponsors is one ISCC (Islamic Supreme Council of Canada). These people while enjoying the tax benefits given to them under the title of charity try to pour more money into the pockets of the IRI while the IRI is spending the moeny that should go for such causes on the Palestinian or Bolivian people.

Sorry guys but thanks to you, the IRI is happy to see such events and charitable functions being held in the US as long as you guys don't poke their nose into the internal politics of Iran. Charity is just a cover.

RE: Baz ham Sepas

by IrooniIrooniam (not verified) on

You literally do have hatred in you, hatred purely towards muslims. You can't keep any Iranian friends, blame it on the muslims. Your business is not doing well, blame it on the muslims. You can't perform in bed with your wife, blame it on the muslims. Someone calls you an INDIAN or an ARAB because of your dark skin, blame it on the muslims. You've got dark skin, blame it on the muslims. You lose your Iranian girl to an arab or indian or mexican or any other, blame it on the muslims. The Shah himself (assuming you liked him) was a muslim. Mossadegh (whom I assume you do not respect, was a muslim). This is literally hillarious. Take a look in the mirror and if you don't like yourself, that's your problem, don't blame it on the muslims (or any other religious group).

I was there....

by IrooniGirl (not verified) on

To those of you who think we didn't try to raise awareness about problems in Iran....To those of you who think Mohregan was just about dance and food!

Don’t you dare attack us for not making an effort? What are YOU doing to make things better? Are spending your time volunteering to help (make the smallest contribution) to make changes in Iran? Are you spending every hour of your spare time trying to raise money for the children and people in need in Iran?

Here are some examples of what me and my friend did at Mehragan:

MAHAK (Charity foundation for children with Canter in Iran) //mahak-charity.org/

One Million Signatures (to raise awareness about women’s in-equality in Iran)
Bonyade Koodak //www.we-change.org/spip.php?article19

And so many other charity foundations, to raise money for the people of Bam…etc….etc.

It’s all right for you to sit behind your computers, watch a few happy pictures and judge us.

We are trying to keep dying Iranian traditions alive. We are tying to show our children who were born out of Iran and never had a chance to go to Iran, what WE are all about. To show them our culture, where we have come from. This is the least we can do for next Iranian generation living abroad.

What are YOU doing??

Hajagha: There were lots of pretty girls, in nice clothes. You just weren’t there to see them!!!

Baz ham Sepas

by Kamangir on

Yes, I have complexes. But these are justified ones. As an Iranian citizen I am embarrased by the awakward mullahs and ahmadinejad types 'running' my country.  Either because of your religious ideas or because of your hatred towards anything you might consider anti-muslim, or simply because you still somewhere deep in your mind you believe in the current system in Iran or in the so called revolution, because of all these things you cannot see what's happening to your country and why this is happening. I do consider islam as an imposed religion in my country, I'm against islamic (which happen to be arabic) way of life and events, such as eide ghorban, fetr and ramadan and the so many more nonsenses that do not belong to my culture.  If you guys aren't 'cpmplexed' by what is happening in your country in the last 3 decades, boy, you're the one who needs therapy. I'm not against the non-zoroastrian, non-jewish or non-christian, I'm simply against the tiny minority of muslims who believe the right to impose their medicocre vision of life on others, a vision that happens to be the backward, stone age crap from the hot deserts of Arabia some 1500 years ago. You guys and the islamo-fascists who are doing this are the ones that need therapy! a good one!

Cheers

Funny as it seems, most

by alimostofi on

Funny as it seems, most Iranians do not actually celebrate Mehregan at the correct time. Mehrgan, like Nowrooz, Yalda, and Tirgan, are the main four festivals of Iran, which should be celebrated at the start of the season. They date back to many thousands of years ago (some say 7000). And the interesting thing is that these festivals are found in almost all other cultures of the world. Why, because they celebrate the four main facets of Life. Mehregan becomes Thanks Giving, and the concept of sharing is apparent in ancient cultures in the Northern Hemisphere, as they shared their crops before the colder months approached. Law and order and the very concept of culture and society were then developed. It is all done under the auspices of the Astrological Sun sign of Libra or more appropriately Mehr.

RE: Sepas

by Jasjoon on

I agree with Sepas; it is time for us to take all religion out of what we consider Persian/Iranian heritage- not just Islam. Religion and culture, although closely correlated, are two very separate entities! Having said that, let's face it, the arabo-muslim trend has had much stronger impact on de-purification of our heritage than other religions. Add to it the Iranian government's obsession with Arabizing us, so it is no surprise that there are strong feelings against it out there. I think Kamangir needs to stay a lil more objective and don't take anything said against islam so personal.

On another note, I wish there was less of vendor promoting pictures in the photo essay and more of performances! Also, it would have been nice to see some expression of protest in what is going on in Iran in destroying our hertitage!

Shameful

by party pooper (not verified) on

This is the most vulgar exhibition of immorality and shamelessness by the Iranian community in America and above all by the students of Iranian ethnicity. While their fellow students are under the most oppressive conditions back in Iran, there was not single slide showing any demonstration of solidarity or expression sympathy with their counterparts in their homeland.
//iranian.com/main/2007/marg-bar-dictator
While university students in Iran are perished under torture and inhuman conditions in the prisons of the Islamic Republic their happy and chirpy brethren in southern California are stuffing themselves with kebob and rice and sing and dance to the tune of heartlessness. Just compare the pictures in the slides below: see why one group of Iranians raise their fists:
//iranian.com/main/albums/we-have-questio...
and why another group do the same.
//iranian.com/main/image/8416

As long as the promoters of such events are likes of Mohammad Navab and his allies in NIAC, AIC and CASMII, there will never be a free Iran but there will be a lot more such disgraceful demonstrations of disunity around the US and Europe. Shame, Shame, Shame!
