Established on the South bank of river Thames when the first London Bridge was built by the Romans, Borough Market has occupied its present site for 250 years. Borough Market is the country’s most important retail market for fine foods. It has been awarded by The Evening Standard, The Observer and NABMA (National Association of British Market Authorities) “Best speciality Market, the “London’s best shopping experience” and “London’s best market” prizes. In addition the market has the Borough Market Roast restaurant, which was awarded by the Good food guide as “The restaurant with the best Breakfast in London”. Overall if you are a foody, or just love the hustle and bustle of a busy market and enjoy the smells, textures or simply want to see a lot of happy people enjoying their shopping then you should visit this market on a Friday when the market is in its full swing. The market is also open on Thursdays and Saturdays. With 70 stalls and stands there is a lot to enjoy.

It's become the yuppie refuge

It's lost its original atmosphere and authenticity since the yuppies became interested in it to the extent that you can no longer find the traditional offerings.
