"Conveying imagination without resorting to geography?"

AP: Abbas Kiarostami has found inspiration far from home. The Iranian director's films are routinely banned in his home country, whose Islamist government has arrested or barred several younger filmmakers from working. The 72-year-old auteur has responded by looking abroad for inspiration. "In the past few years for fairly obvious reasons, perhaps, I had to work outside Iran," Kiarostami told reporters in Cannes on Monday, saying this presented him with a challenge. "How could I convey to you what I had in my imagination without resorting to geography?">>>

Mr. Kiarostami sent the original, Persian-language text of his letter and an English translation to The Lede from Iran through a mutual friend, Hooman Majd (Note: Cuckoo isn't he NIAC Trita Parsi's buddy ? ), the author of “

The Ayatollah Begs to Differ

In the same interview, Mr. Kiarostami was asked to comment on the decision of another Iranian filmmaker, Bahman Ghobadi, to leave Iran. “Based on what I’ve witnessed of Iranians leaving Iran, I haven’t seen a very positive outcome,” he replied. “I have no criticism of anybody else that should choose to leave their home…. If Bahman Ghobadi believes that he will make films under better conditions outside of Iran, I only congratulate and praise him. So long as he does make them.” 

 

 

Mr. Ghobadi took that as an attack of some sort and wrote a furious open letter denouncing Mr. Kiarostami for not taking a political stand against Iran’s government. In an email message to The Lede, Mr. Kiarostami said that his remarks about Mr. Ghobadi were not in any way an attack on him.

It was called 'Certified Copy' with Juliette Binoche. It was so crap I had to stop it after half an hour. Very good director Absolute pants. I hope Farhadi does not fall into the same trap.

فرامرز جان حسابِ چند تبهکار با ایرانیانی دیگر جداست،این را مردمِ ژاپن بسیار خوب می‌‌دانند.خیالتان راحت باشد که اینها مردمانی جلو افتاده از ما و حتی دیگر جوامع هستند.

ژاپن بی‌ نظیر است.هیچ هم تعارف با هم نداریم.

متأسفانه فیلم آن نبود که ما و خیلی‌‌های دیگر به دنبالش در انتظار بودند،شاید کیا رستمی شخصی‌‌ترین برداشتِ خودش را در ساختِ این فیلم دخیل داده بوده است و هرج و مرج سکانس‌ها عجیب درین رابطه آزار دهنده هستند،سوای برخی‌ گفتار‌ها (سبک فلینی) و رفتارهای (سبکِ چند ده ساله خویش) همیشگی‌ او..فیلم هم آغوشی خاصی‌ با تماشگر (به خصوص تماشاگرِ معمولی‌) ندارد،پس زمینه فیلم،صداها،آوای بیرونی و نما و نور پردازی شیوا و در جاهائی بسیار دلپذیرند،هنرپیشگان ژاپنی فیلم همان راهی‌ را می‌‌روند که همیشه رفته اند..کیا رستمی اینان را در انتخاب حرکاتِ سنتیمنتالیسمِ فیلمیک آزاد گذاشته است،عجیب !

با این حال شناخت کیا رستمی از ژاپن،مردمانش،زبان و کلا فرهنگِ این سرزمینِ تاریخی کم است و گاهی‌ ناباورانه برای او بی‌ اهمیت به نظر می‌رسد،انگاری با نساختنِ تکه‌های آخرِ فیلم،ما را به شیوه‌ای نو از سینما دعوت می‌کند.

دیدنِ فیلم را برای علاقمندانِ سینمای حرفه‌ای و هنری توصیه می‌کنیم،حتما به زبانِ اصلی‌ و به زیر نویس تماشا فرمایید.
