It's ironic that some who voted in an election is called anti democratic by loving democrats that are mostly American citizen and have signed a document swearing that they have no attachment to their prior citizen ship.
Let's review what khatami has done.
During his presidency the tendency to jail, eliminate opposition with out due process was stopped. Don't get excited about this comment and write about how we still have shit load of prisoners as that's not his branch and we are not criticising Judicial branch. I am talking about 6000 type elimination. Actually they talked about capital punishment for political activist but i don't recall any actually been done.
During his presidency even with halting enrichment he ended up not getting any thing in return which caused ahmadinejad resuming the enrichment.
He was the first president that was elected without blessing from supreme leader. Reason was even though he was a mullah, he resigned his post as ershad minister due to restrictions. If was then that people grew balls to criticize the system and listen to opposition tv.
He was the president that ghatlhaye zanjireye was exposed and gave ganji enough courage to destroy one of the power polls in iran (Rafsanjani) he has later said he was talking about khamenei back then but bullshit 1 he didn't think khamenei wants to get involved and he thought this power mafia that exist would be gone with out Rafsanjani. He was wrong.
he was the one that even though he had a better chance of beating ahmadinejad in the election he yielded to mosavi because he thought he would be a better messenger of freedom for Iran.
And now he has realized this bipolar political environment is only helping the enemy and he is trying to calm the country so they can go back to the ballot to fight the power mafia. I think he is trying to run for the next election as all your green movement pretty much has no one left. Mosavi could have re ran for the next term and didnt make it so black and white. Yeah yeah democracy but let's have a country called Iran first and then try to have democracy in it.
I can go on and on about khatami but the soak reason that we had green movement was because of him and your problem with him is that he refused to be hero since it was clear to him that heroes have hurt the country in the long run and as he said once he has sworn to this constitution which he used effectively to promot democracy.
