Rahman Bouzari: Prisomer of the day

Kaleme: Rahman Bouzari is a translator and journalist who has been in prison since May 20, 2012, serving a two-year prison term.

Rahman Bouzari was first arrested on May 29, 2011, after he appeared at Evin Prison Courts following summons. According to Saham News, security forces stormed Bouzari's home on the night of May 28, searched the premises and took away his laptop computer. He was later released on bail.

A Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Rahman Bouzari to two years in prison and 74 lashes on charges of "propaganda against the state." Rahman Bouzari is a graduate student of philosophy, and was kept from presenting his dissertation when he was abruptly summoned and imprisoned in May 2012.

Rahman Bouzari worked with several reformist newspapers such as Hammihan and Kargozaran, and his last job was Editor of Philosophy Desk at Sharq Newspaper. He was also engaged in translating philosophy books.

Rahman Bouzari was among the 14 prisoners whose flogging sentences were carried out last week, according to BBC Persian.

Regime change is the only way to end the national nightmare of 34 years of uninterrupted gross violation of human rights and crimes against humanity by the Messianic Islamist rapists, “reformers” and all.
